Well, I've been lurking for quite a while without posting much. Since things were going well, I figured I'd provide an update.

I've been in therapy, and very happy with my therapist and therapy, for a little over three months. We've addressed lots of issues, and I've begun to make concrete progress on a number of things -- employment, diet, exercise, and mood.

I made an appointment with a local doctor (actually an ObGyn) who devotes one day a week of her practice to trans clients. My therapist was comfortable writing a letter, and he allowed me to read the letter in advance of him sending it to the doctor.

I've very excited! I have some concerns: I still smoke, I'm 35, and I still have 40-50 lbs to lose (down 25 to date). But, whatever happens -- happens. Much more has come this year from letting go of control and letting things happen, so I figure it's all part of the journey.

Wish me luck, and I'll keep you girls posted.   :)

Hi delia,

Great to hear you good news. Keep up the mighty effort you are putting into yourself. You'll be reaping the rewards soon.

If you will be going on HRT as a result from the letter, you'll need to get serious about that smoking stuff. It's bad news all round. Great to hear the weight is coming off. You must feel like a new woman.

Waiting to further updates

Be safe, well and happy
Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Yay! I had great appointment today. Felt comfortable, and the doctor was knowledgeable and kind. I filled my script for spiro and estradiol (patch). A bit disappointed that I got the patch, but I'm 35 and a smoke a pack a day. Doc said she would change to a shot if I quit smoking and stayed quit for 90 days.

I'm at peace. Whew.
