Having to deal with water leaking all over the store and knowing that their maintenance guy had been told about leaks before, but he always says its nothing. And then hearing everyone who came in to get something say "hey, you got a leak in here or something?"

My EMT instructor was such an inconsiderate, rude twit! We were going over practical skills and he wold make people feel terrible for making a slight mistake. You can tell someone he//she did something wrong without being mean about it.

Does it have anything to do with the importance of what you are learning?
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

Being an EMT has nothing to do with being 'hot' , it is about saving lives, there is a darn good reason why an instructor will grill an applicant as to proper procedure

No, they are not going to be 'nice' about it

Superficial fanny kissing friends are a dime a dozen, a TRUE FRIEND however is PRICELESS

That's kinda what I was thinking, the EMT is going to be in a high pressure - to extremely high pressure - situation making decisions that are literally life and death. If you can't deal with that pressure in the classroom, then you're not going to be much of a help in the field.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

Nothing.

Maybe it's the spiro or maybe just that I'm happy but I rarely get pissed about anything anymore.

I am a day late on this (sorry) but I went to a diner I heard was good.  After I was done eating and the bill was paid I was making my exit when this lumberjacky fellow walked through the door.  He took a big step forward, almost into me, and proceed to lock eyes with my tits while halfway opening the door.  I'm waiting for the guy to finish coming through the door so I can leave when he notices I've caught him oggling my niddlers, so he just about slams the door in my face spooked, nearly trampling me to get out of the way and waddles off.  I called out, "Thanks bro!"  My immediate reaction was to think it was because I didn't pass, but I was promptly reminded that I'm a rather intimidating looking lady.  Okay, I can live with that.

I agree with the statement in bold. However, maybe I should've specified that he actually called someone a "stupid nimrod".  >:(
Plus, as a volunteer firefighter, I've seen much more messed up stuff than normal people ever see, all with a cool head. So let's cool our jets here, folks. This thread is "what pissed you off today?" not "what traumatized you today?", so let me just say that he pissed me off, nothing more. Thank you, Sarah.  :)

As I am doing some work on my thesis, I took a peek at the cover of one of my books. There is a woman who is obviously poor, and rather sad looking, holding up a sign that says "justice."

it just reminds me of all the times people have mocked the work I do/have done. I worked at a local natural foods store because I liked their social and environmental practices - and it was just a big joke to everyone. My undergrad degree (women's studies)...also a big joke. My thesis...why would you do a thesis that deals with theories of social justice? The trip I am doing for research for said thesis. Apparently I'm going to be just marching around holding up a sign and BAM there is my research.

I was involved with a women's centre for a while, as well as a Palestianian solidarity group (briefly)...apparently, again, I'm going to be seen on the news as one of those angry protestors holding up a sign and getting pepper sprayed by the cops.

A) How condescending, to assume that all I do is just hold up a sign and complain all day. It's actually a great deal more effing complex than that. protest is generally not the most effective means of combatting social injustice, but nevermind that.

B) forgive me for actually giving a crap about what happens in this world. Forgive me for trying to make choices that seem more socially and environmentally responsible. Forgive me for thinking about groups that are outside myself. Forgive me for perhaps being optimistic enough to assume that we can make this world a better place. It isn't easy, and it becomes ever more complex as I work through the various theories/approaches to achieving long-lasting social justice, but meh.

Yes, I realize that at the moment I am sitting at a computer hacking out a thesis rather than actually doing something with immediate results. But it's to get qualifications to be in a position where I can help influence bigger decisions, and the education is to inform me on how I can do that in the best way possible. In a way that doesn't just benefit myself and people like me.

When people think trying to achieve social justice is just holding up a sign and getting your angry face all over the news, I ACTUALLY WANT TO GET MY ANGRY FACE ALL OVER THE NEWS WHEN I BEAT YOU TO DEATH WITH A BOOK.

Lol. *dies* OK, work time.

TMJ. My dentist could have told what I was paying 200€ for. Let's see if next time I can realign my jaw with orthodontics.
