Patrick Bonnett, CEO of Omaha based Encore Financial Services, Inc., and head of a Tea Party group calling itself the "Omaha Liberty Project," has launched a petition drive to overturn the city's recently approved legal protections for LGBT residents.

I can find no corroboration that Omaha Liberty Project is in any way related to the Tea Party Movement.

Tying a group to the "Tea Party" automatically sets of my " BS/political hack-job" alarm.

Well, this report http://www.kptm.com/story/19789539/petition-against-lgbt-ordinance has a Patrick Bonnett who looks like this Patrick Bonnett https://twitter.com/patrickbonnett who tweeted this "Biked 24mi at Zorinsky Lake today now it's time to contact my TEA Party friends to mobilize for this week's activities" and Zorinsky lake is in Omaha.

I am not sure why I bothered doing that since I am not entitled to vote in US elections...

There you dahrling:

"Patrick Bonnett, executive director of the Omaha Liberty Project, said the group would issue a statement on the petition initiative once the legal review was complete.

Besides Bonnett, a local Tea Party organizer, the group's members include Femi Awodele — a north Omaha community leader and executive director of Christian Couples Fellowship International."

Patrick Bonnett, CEO of Omaha based Encore Financial Services, Inc., and head of a Tea Party group calling itself the "Omaha Liberty Project," said he is confident that he can quickly surpass the roughly 11,400 signatures required to put the measure before voters.

"Omaha Liberty Project" is aided in the effort by the organization "Christian Couples Fellowship International," and headed by executive director Femi Awodele.

I am a member of a local Kiwanis club, and I have been a PTSA officer.  So PTSA is associated with Kiwanis, right?

EPIC LOGIC FAIL

So you say he leaves all his biases behind him while working with this group? That's very naive.

From the Omaha Liberty Project website:

No discrimination cases were filed against people engaging in Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual or Transgendered sexual behavior leading up to the Council's action and none have been filed since.  The State, through an Opinion issued by the Attorney General's Office, has asserted its Supremacy on the issue and opposed the actions taken by the Omaha City Council.  The Council failed to meet the 3-way Civil Rights test for creating a new Special Protected Classification for LGBT persons. The Council also saw fit to include Heterosexuals in the Protected Class.

The Ordinance, passed only along Party Lines, was then amended AFTER the Public Hearing and no additional Public Hearing was held on the Amended Ordinance.  Further, the Council gave a woefully inadequate special "Exemption" to Churches but the interpretation of the exemption has left the community scratching its collective head.

This ordinance is clearly a violation of our 1st Amendment Right to Free Speech.  It infringes upon our Religious Liberties Freedoms and is forcing many people to violate their religious convictions and conscience at work, in business and even in some areas of church life.

If left in place, this Ordinance will have lasting negative effects on our families, our churches and our businesses. Therefore, we in the faith community have mobilized to begin a Petition Process to allow the People of Omaha a Vote on the issue.

So it seems that the issue revolves around Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Conscience, and the Right of Free Speech."

The article cited in the initial post appears to be nothing more than propaganda, and the title of this topic is misleading.

The issue is whether the initial post was factual, and if the title was honest.

What do you think?
