A Weird Dream (WARNING: Gross)

Last night, I had a very uncomfortable dream. I dreamed that I went through a procedure (to lose weight, I think), in which bugs were implanted in my skin. I dreamed that it was very itchy with them crawling around, and eventually I wanted to stop the procedure. However, it was too late. I tried to scratch the bugs out of my arm and bug "puss" came up. I woke up itchy because of the dream.

For those of you who are any good at helping people interpret their dreams, what could this mean?

I personally don't believe that there's much gold to be found in dream-reading, but I learned a bit about dream interpenetration in a Literature class of mine, and I think it's a fun little pastime.

The whole section about the procedure makes me think that you have a big goal up ahead. Something that you're willing to risk things for, and something you desire incredibly. You may even put yourself at risk to attain this desire. Even though in this dream you were undergoing a (seemingly) medical procedure, that doesn't necessarily make your goal medical at all. You could be perusing a relationship, either romantic or platonic. You could want to join a certain group or such. However, whatever this goal may be, there's some sort of backfire that you think you can overcome.

In the dream, you go along with the procedure, but later doubt your decision because it is too much. You realize the danger and feel you need to draw back, but something is keeping you. It could either be a change that you absolutely cannot alter (a bad example, but it will serve the purpose: you decide to get a tattoo, but it gets very painful half-way through, but now that you have half of it you can't get it removed),  or a change that you technically can alter, but don't have the willpower to.

When you say "bugs", it's hard to tell what kind of bugs. All sorts of bugs have all sorts of meanings, but I'll try to just generalize the term "bug". A bug ids something that bugs you (pun intended). It can be anxiety or worry. Stress, even. The bugs burrowing into you seems to indicate that something is worrying you, on one level or another, to your very core. You've been stressed about this upcoming goal of yours, even though it's something you want very badly. But you fear that if you follow the desire, you'll want to back out later.

This dream is about a trial, for sure. Whatever your trial is (if you have one), I wish you luck! Before springing into it, make sure that you have a fair understanding about whatever it is you're pursuing, and make sure that, in your heart of hearts, it's what you want the most.

Thank you for your reply, Reinhaven! I'm sorry I took so long to comment.

Yes, I was thinking something similar...I'm honestly wondering if I am nervous about gender issues and possible transitioning...

Before I started transitioning I used to see myself as being full of green pus and slime. My therapist asked me to draw a pic, and the disgusting stuff was centered on, and radiating out from, the genital area.

Since being on E and Spiro, I don't have those thoughts anymore. :-)

So it may be the opposite...you've thought about transitioning, but always backed off for one reason or another...the original intent of implanting the bugs was for a good end--to lose weight--but when the process became uncomfortable (social fears?), you wanted to quit...but it was too late, the thought of transitioning is now in your skin (yourself).

Good luck, whichever way you to read it.
...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

No need to apologize! I understand you're a busy person, just like the rest of us.

It could be a fear of transitioning. But it could also be a fear of something else, too, if you have other goals. Maybe it's even a fear of a goal you're not completely aware of, and yet are formulating in your mind.

Still, transitioning is a big thing. You have reasons to be slightly worried about it. That's why we have therapists. They'll verify if we're ready or not, and if we're not, they'll help us get there. Then the doctors will tell us all about risks and such. Because everything comes with risks.

I hope you find what you're looking for eventually!

Also, I've seen you around the site, and you seem pretty cool. It's nice to finally talk to you.
