Coming out to my friend was actually easier than I thought.
He was baffled and a bit shocked at first. I think more than
me when I found it out myself.

He said he didn't have a problem with it and even promised to
keep it a secret for as long as I would want him to. At the same
time he was a bit reluctant to talk about it in person, it's pretty
obvious that I'm the first trans he ever faced.

Still I'm grateful for his acceptance. He's a terrific friend,
I'm glad I have at least one good friend to help me get through this.

That's great news. I am glad it went so well.

Thank you. It's funny though, he's the first person I
talked about this face to face. Not even my family knows it yet.
I'll tell my brother eventually (he's somewhat of a sexist, ugh),
my mother will have to see it to believe it. Talking to her about this
is pointless, she'll just shut me out pretending it's not real, as usual.

I'm sorry that you feel your family will not accept you fully. I hope it turns out better than you expect. I actually thought my parents would disown me. However, they have been very supportive. My mom even takes me shopping and sends me clothes. My dad is trying his best to use my new name, and my stepdad is trying to use female pronouns. I mention this because, for me, it is a good example of how people can react very differently than what you expect.

Let us know how it goes once you do tell your family.

I will.

I don't think my brother will have much of
a problem with it. My mother is another case
entirely. She once asked me if I was gay, you
should have seen her face. How much condescending pity
it showed, as if to say "It's fine if you are gay, but I
feel sorry for you". Simply disgusting.

Ok, so I had to ditch him.
Open-minded my buttocks.
What a f***en hypocrite.

I've felt bad for about a day, now
I just feel angry. Agh, I feel like
tearing him apart, slowly, piece by piece.

Thank you for your understanding, April.

Luckily I don't care about the relationships lost.
Even if it comes to my family. If they don't accept me
I don't need them, it's as simple as that.

:( i hope you find that some people reacted better than you expected. I thought my family wouldnt take it well but everyone did except my brother. You will lose alot of people but you wont lose them all. But youll value the ones that stayed much more, and find your even closer than you were. Atleast that was my experience

Well that's what was funny about him. He seemed okay with it at first.
I think it took him a while to realize the fact. He was either disgusted by it,
afraid I would come onto him after I transitioned, afraid he would come onto
me after I transitioned or he's just gay losing all hope to have me as his
gay lover (even though he assured me he wasn't)... In either case he's still a jerk,
so f*** him.

The funny thing about me is that I don't have many people to lose now,
except for my family. I guess that's why I don't really care.

I hope this doesn't sound crass, as I do know the pain. But remember you will never lose someone important. No matter who they are  your Mum your Dad whatever. If they cannot love you, they never did.

I know that sounds tough. But I think it is pretty true.
Based on family experience.

Cindy.

Congratulations on our coming-out process. Its a very powerful event towards growth, but I'm saddened to hear it was less than ideal. Which is all too predictable. However, where I lost a ton of people, they were quickly replaced with even better friends. Which is also, awesomely, a very common thing that I've seen.

I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence. — Frederick Douglass (1817-1895)
