Trans women group in packs lol.

I have a trans roommate coming at the end of the month.
To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are.

Oh, here is a pretty comprehensive place to start on crime.  Of course crime is relative.  For example I live in the area of town that has the most auto theft, but since I don't have a car....

So how do you get around? Bicycle?

Bike and mass transit, as we are one of the few places in the US that really has a comprehensive MassTrans system - about 170 miles North to South and about 50 East to West (complete with bike racks, so the bike goes with me everywhere).  We all seem to bitch about GGT/BART/ MUNI/AC Transit/Caltrain nonstop, but the fact is that it's really a pretty solid system.  Add to that bike trails that will get me 30 of the 60 miles between where I work and where I live (more that that, it's just that about 10 miles in the middle are missing, but they are being built alongside the new SMART trains) when I'm not working, and I really don't need - or want - a car.

Thank you!

I think the LA area is an awesome place to live and a great place to be trans.
I felt right at home when I visited there a couple of years ago. Not to mention, there's a largest Thai community in LA where I can find a job without being discriminated. And I love Hollywood.

@Mintra - you'll need a car too

Thanks Jamie. I do have a car. Can't live without one in St. Louis either.

Girls, how is Koreatown? I found an affordable apt on Craigslists : http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/apa/3499882869.html

Factoring in all the utilities, I'd be paying less than I'm paying now. (Although it's half as big but I can definitely live with that.)

One of my roommates used to live in Koreatown and loved it. He had a really cute place, too, for dirt cheap (compared to LA cost of living standards).

Also it's pretty central in the city and therefore would prolly be a great place to start. It's not going to have that "LA glamor" of Hollywood/Silverlake or the paradise city vibe that you will find in Santa Monica/Venice but it's in close proximity to lots of great stuff and tons of excellent food. Unfortunately looks like the ad was already taken down :( but keep checking CL, you WILL find something!

Thank you Jennygirl. I know right, Craigslists always have good deals on everything.
