Embrace

I have been a member here lurking for the past couple of months and would like to take a moment to briefly introduce myself.

I'm Tammy.  I'm in my late thirties, married and have a young child who doesn't know about this side of my life.

I've recently come to realize that I've been repressing my feelings with respect to both my gender identity and sexuality for the majority of my life.

I am a mostly closeted MtF, but have come out to two close friends (aside from my wife) and do take the opportunity to visit one of them presenting as female about once a week.  I plan to begin attending support group meetings in January.

I began therapy a little over a month ago and hope that in time my therapist will be able to help guide me through better understanding myself in order to be best equipped to make the tough decisions which lie ahead.

My wife, also my best friend of 13 years, is well aware and doing everything she can to support me in working through things.  I greatly admire the selflessness and objectivity she has afforded me, especially in consideration of the potential this has to impact our relationship.

I'm happy to be here and am grateful to those of you who contribute toward making this place what it is.

Hi tammysmiles, welcome to Susans! Nice name by the way.  :)

It's great that you are seeing a therapist so that you are able to make future decisions concerning yourself.  It's a bonus to have such a supportive wife.

Good luck on your journey.  Enjoy the site and happy new years!

Hi Tammy,

Another big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while.

There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in start talking and ask any question you like. You're quite safe here and we are very accepting.

Good to hear you are off to a good start with therapy and all. Hope it continues to improve as you journey along.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.

Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Thank you all for your kind greetings.

I'm not quite what you'd call a well seasoned forum contributor, mostly because I tend to be overly critical of myself, particularly when communicating with others in written form.

So please bear with me as I attempt to gradually work my way out of my shell.

We have all the time in the world for you, Tammy. Take your time and if you get stuck getting out of the shell, Devlyn has some WD40 in the cupboard, just near the coffee.
