Kia Ora,

::) Again another old interesting topic, sadly it was locked because it went off track...Hopefully this new revived one will run smoothly [Fingers crossed ...But I won't hold my breath] ...

https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,98011.160/viewresults.html

The opening post went like this :

::) A while back I did a poll on decriminalising/legalising prostitution, where it would seem the majority of those who voted were in favour of it being legal...

However this new topic came about after I was thinking of the Human Rights meetings I've attended in the past, where  a number of trans-women there were still or had been into prostitution... A couple who attended the meetings were representatives of the NZ Prostitutes Collective ...I should point out there were also trans-women there who were working in "Normal" jobs, some owned their own business and employed others, whilst some were students, in other words they were from all walks of life, but prostitution was for the most part high on the list of "professions" or past profession...

I guess for some it's a way of[or was a way of] validating their gender identity by having men desire them in a sexual way...

Others that I had met had been sexually abuse as children, psychologically this must have a major impact upon a child's developing sponge-like mind, making them feel worthless as a human being, only good for sexual purposes...

"Survival" money's is also a reason, perhaps it's purely economical  ...For others it might be due to a high sex drive...

No doubt there are quite a number of reasons as to why trans-women sell their bodies...However I just thought some members would like to say what's on their minds when it comes to the topic of prostitution...

:eusa_think: What do you think ? As it ever crossed your mind?

BTW The threat in the link was a 'poll' as well as comments, so if you wish to remain anonymous just click on the link and cast your vote !

I would never judge someone else for their behavior but it has never crossed my mind. For me sex is only something I share with someone I really love. Also IMHO it is a very high risk way of making money. I would venture to say the majority of trans related deaths happen to sex workers. Again, not my place to judge but I don't think I could ever do this.

As Stephe said, I am not saying this judge anyone.

I couldn't ever be a prostitute. It has more to do with how I view myself and my body. I only share my body with the people I love. I personally cannot imagine using my body in a sexual way for monetary purposes....plus it would be something that would only further the stereotype that transgender people are just prostitutes.

As my lawyer said to me three weeks ago, she was so happy to represent a transdgender who wasn't caught prostituting her body. She said it gave her hope and that it opened her mentality up regarding transgender people. And she specializes in LGBT law.

I did it few times when I was part time (me) and was enough dissociated with my body
I met some interesting people, have some dialogues which push me further in my way
For making money to live it will be terrible and hard work, but it was great experience for me
