Just a quick update and then I'm off line again for a while.
JoAnn and I are seeing the therapist, and she's willing to stay with me, and support me until I transition. She doesn't know how she'll feel at that point in our lives, and our divorce is still a possibility. But even at that she said we'll remain partners in our financial lives, and friends for life. I'll accept whatever happens in our lives, and any decision JoAnn makes.
We met our sons in the Bay Area yesterday and told them about my life and transition. It was emotional and traumatic, but quickly turned to a caring and loving exercise for us all. JoAnn is still terribly hurt by my hiding and lying, and she made no bones about it when she told the boys we may ultimately end up divorced. My eldest son wanted to talk to his wife (with my younger son present), but without JoAnn and I around. So we left, and later found that even she is pleased that I'm able to move on in life. Our sons and daughter-in-law are wonderful, and I love my family so much.
Came out to the rest of my family in a letter yesterday also. I've only heard from one of my sisters, and the rest of the seven siblings haven't said anything about the letter I sent out by email last evening. I know it's too early, and I'll no doubt hear more today.
Oh yes. The depression is gone. I not only love my life again, but I'm starting to love being around people. Because of my age it's going to take at least a year before full time, and maybe two. But I'm ready and willing to let time pass in the harmony of transition and life.
That's about all for now. I'll continue to read your threads once in a while, and post another update in the future.
