For a male it is difficult to retain an erection during the refractory period.
Since I seldom get an erection anymore, I have learned that having an erection and being sexually aroused are two separate things. I can come very close to orgasm by breast stimulation alone. What little remains of my penis is exquisitely sensitive, although much less visually impressive.
If you can achieve an orgasm without ejaculation and without an erection you are pretty much set to go as many times as you wish.
Of course being estrogen-based it takes much longer to become aroused. The traditional male 5 minute wank just doesn't happen any more.
My wife has always been multi-orgasmic and being with her has helped me learn to do it too.

Sure, it took practice and self-control... but it's so worth it! Of course, I'm looking to much easier and more frequent O's as a female.
