I don't know if it is normal, but I have the same thing. Especially if I lay on my back. It's kind of freaky looking INHO.

Mine is when I stand too. There is about an 8" difference between the bottom of my rib cage and the diameter of my waste. I was just saying it is super scary when I lay down.  ;D

Maybe your body likes to hold on to belly fat.... I know mine does, Im 5'10 and been down to 145 and still had belly fat....  I think HRT might help, but the genetic females of my family have belly fat too, so maybe you are predisposed like me.

yeah, that was what my sister (a cis-woman) kept saying until she went to the hospital and almost died.

Look at your height and weight in a chart (http://ygraph.com/chart/589), if you are 5 11 and weight 110 lb, you know what you are anorexic, seek help

Well I am 5'5" and between 110-118lbs on average so i fit the female range just fine :) so we know i won't need to seek medical care.

At the risk of being serious, you dont have to be 110 and 5 10 to have eating problems.  I've got a problem and I'm nowhere near there, worse still I rationalize it as ok because I've got a dozen pounds of fat until I'm in danger territory...  Trust me, anorexia gets serious before your body completely starves

I suppose I could be after all I only eat dinner and never finish dinner but I am not sure that means I am.

2 main questions:  Are you physically hungry, so therefore do not eat? OR do you feel hungry but refuse to eat (the reasons are unimportant)?
Also, how many calories a day do you consume?
I physically have lost my appetite and can only force down so many calories a day due to busy schedule and queasy stomach. Ive been subsiding on far too few calories a day (trust me, its bad) for a month now.  Ive been cold, tired, irritable, uncomfortable.  For me the main symptom is the cold, I was always comfortable in a room that was 65-68, now I am only comfortable at like 77.  That is the most noticeable difference beside the dizzy spells if I get up too fast (never happened before).  Oh and the crazy out of nowhere, insanely fidgity bursts of energy Ive been getting lately.  Yesterday it was all I could do to stay awake, but today I feel like attacking a mastadon after running for a couple of days, its gotten a bit out of control.

I dont feel hungry unless I dont eat for 2 days( I am often not bothered to eat for 2 days sometimes also) and I dont eat food with any fat used in its cooking or just in it.

Since I started HRT 1 year and 6 months ago, and I dont count calories because its not worth it when you eat as much as I do.

@LilDevilofPrada You might simply have a pertruding rib cage which means your ribcage opens at the bottom more upwards at a diagonal than at a horizontal opening like an average ribcage. It is not unheard of and usually is only visible in slim people or (from what you described above) from people that are loosing weight rapidly (you start to loose weight from top of your thorac/upper abdominal region first). I personally would not be alarmed by it as it sounds like you are still eating healthy.

Well, Id count for a while to be safe...  I dont want to go into numbers, but you should know the recommended minimum intake is 1200 a day. Everyone is different, but if you are significantly below that, you might have a problem.  Contrary to popular belief, really low amounts of calories a day is NOT healthy (for almost everyone, I will stipulate that there are rare exceptions)

She's like my age; that chart's for people who are over their mid-twenties. Just a little concerned because you just described my weight and height. >.< (close to it, I'm 5'10 1/2" and 115 pounds) I feel fine though lol.

Well if you go to the do i pass thread you can see I have a skinny figure so what you have suggested makes sense.

It is always a good idea to make sure you are getting enough calories for you. My ribs stick out much in the way you have described yours. But, I eat a lot of food and am at a healthy weight. In order to maintain my weight I need about 1500-1800 calories a day.

Do your hip bones stick out? Mine do a little but not too much.

I have same situation. But it's not because I am anorexic. If you tune your body to be healthy, it will know when to eat and when not to eat.

I think there is too much pressure about being too fat or too skinny in the world today. And I think we know that as it applies to us and gender or other things as well. You know if you are being healthy, and that makes you beautiful, because you care for your body despite what the world tells you. Because let's face it, the world really doesn't have a clue.
