Im looking for work right now.I havent worked outside of the plumbing field in a very long time.I have talked to my therapist on how to handle my self as a person wh is still in a transitional stage.I am living fulltime(living fulltime for me means namechanged and gender marker changed). This is the info i have so far is that when they call at some point in the conversation i tell then that im a transgender person who is in the middle of transtion.I have started applying, the first place i applyed was wendys. Is saying that i want to work in preperation ok to say?and that i dont want to work with custumers directly.does anyone have any other sugestions that would be helpful??

I do see myself going back to work as a plumber in the near future but not right away does anyone have any sugestions or experiance how to handle working contruction as a transgender person??

Well, I never mention being trans.. If they ask questions, I'll answer honestly - but I don't volunteer anything.

im job searching right now myself.. im fulltime and mostly passable. However my name is still the same on my ID and so is my gender. I wouldnt go ahead and tell them your transgender, your just bringing it to light, and your making a big deal of it by bringing it up right away, like its some kind of deterrant. Just pretend your normal as best you can.. Dont ask to be hidden away then they feel like they would be hiring someone that they need to keep hidden, thats a major deterant from any job.

I wouldnt ever say anything if my ID was correct, but once they run my social security number I think they can figure it out pretty easily.
