Sorry for the late reply. I cant really think of any really good horrors at the moment, I find movies that are classed as horror. Funny, interesting, disturbing, or just complete rubbish.

A few off the top of my head! (Sorry if some of these aren't deemed horror)

Hills Have Eyes (Remake) I went to watch this in the cinema and found it VERY disturbing..
Hostel - After you get past the 30 minutes of porn the movie does turn into an intresting watch.
Saw (All of them) Interesting and extremely clever in my opinion. Definitely worth a watch.. make sure you see them all in order though! Disturbing because someone actually thought of that!
The Grudge I really enjoyed this film did scare me slightly though!

Thats all I can think of at the moment!

Jay

Got to agree with you Jay, i like those films too, the grudge was a bit disturbing though. I think I would have to add Halloween to that list as well though for me

Is that the first Halloween with jamie Lee Curtis and the coat-hanger?

Scared the sh*t out of me at the time, saw it at a film festival in Italy at the time with a non horror film audience, it freaked a lot of them out, many walked out!

...I haven't seen a good horror movie in a long time.  I like the old school slasher flicks.  All the ones that came out recently seem to be either super gory or they are Japanese remakes.  *sigh*  Scream was the last one that I remember loving and that's been more than 10 years.

When younger, Nightmare on Elm Street absolutley terrified me.

One of the few that actually scared me and is still entertaining.  :D

The Mad is hilarious, if you haven't seen it.  Plus, Billy Zane is in it.  It's a zombie flick...it's awesome.
If curiosity really killed the cat, I'd already be dead.

The original Halloween, by John Carpenter was a masterpiece, done with a sly undertone of humor all but absent from most slasher flix.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

I think Nightmare on Elm Street is about a thousand times better than Halloween.

Anyway, I saw an incredible horror movie called Farmhouse a couple weeks ago... one of the best horror flicks I've seen in a long time. Check it out if you get the opportunity. And whoever posted on here that Baby Blues was good... THANK YOU! Awesome film.

Has anyone seen the movie One Missed Call? i fancy getting it on DVD but a few people say its not worth it.....
  •

Luc

TERRIBLE movie, so if you want a good laugh, get it... if you want a good horror film, might want to steer clear.

The Hitcher (2007) I thought was good and a lot of fun... not really scary, though. But hey, if you're into chicks, Sophia Bush is in it, and she's GORGEOUS.

Yeah I think she was the only good thing about the movie... I rented it a while ago and didn't think that much of it. My friend told me to rent it..

I gave it a 3 out of 5 for the non-japanese version. Mediocre. I have never seen the japanese version.

I found The Hitcher really slow to be honest. My attention wondered off after about 20 minutes.

I have got The Orphanage for the weekend! w00t! :)

Rereading the thread two movies come to mind that used to scare the Bajesus out of me.  Of course this was back in the days before really good blood and guts gore.

Psycho.  Could not shower without a clear shower curtain and my eye on the door.

The original Night of the Living Dead.

And believe it or not, Alien scared me ->-bleeped-<-less.  I had recurring dreams of that damn creature for weeks.

But now they are nothing.

Quarantine is a good small horror film, about people trapped in a building with others who are suffering from...something. It's the English-language remake of a (Spanish?) film called [REC], and I'm looking forward to seeing that for comparison.

Outpost is a great small horror film, about a treasure hunter of sorts and his mercenary guards digging up a Nazi legacy much better left undisturbed. It's beautifully photographed and well-acted, which any horror fan knows you don't want to take for granted. :) It paces its growing intensity well, with some excellent character moments. Highly recommended.

Well the Orghange wasn't as good as what I thought it was going to be. :( Alright but a bit cheesy towards the end.. some scary bits thoughout.

I really liked the new halloween movie though :)
