Former and current students of St. Francis Preparatory School have come out in support of a beloved teacher who is suing the school, claiming he was booted over his transgender sexual orientation, with one official allegedly saying he was "worse than gay."

...Cristina Guarino, Danielle Cervantes and Alexander Maureau created a petition on the Change.org Web site demanding that officials from the Queens Catholic school "formally apologize to [him] for sexual discrimination."

As of yesterday, 1,500 supporters had signed the online petition.

"I'm pretty overwhelmed," said Krolikowski via phone. "I didn't expect this."

Newer generations are becoming more and more accepting. I try to stay positive and keep in mind that people like Mr. "Worse than gay" will soon be claimed by their own mortality. This is all just a new level of a long and terrible civil rights war that has been waged for centuries in this country. Society will one day look back at it's heroes and villains and know who was just.
"For transpeople, using the right pronoun is NOT simply a 'political correctness' issue. It's core to the entire struggle transpeople go through. Using the wrong pronoun means 'I don't recognize you as who you are.' It means 'I think you're confused, delusional, or mentally I'll.'. It means 'you're not important enough for me to acknowledge your struggle.'"

At least one bright spot here... Catholic institutions are rapidly going bankrupt and shutting down in part because of the costs of paying all the damages from abuse cases dating back as far as the Fifties. We may not have that long to wait.

I signed the petition. There's been a divide between the
lay people and the hierarchy of the Catholic Church for a
long time.
Be who you are.
