like i said earlier, im my universitys transwellfare officer, im not overtly trans in the role, but its a firm base for acceptance, infact, with the rest of the lgbt committee im organising a transgender awareness week in sheffield in september to promote the newly founded lgbt (Formerly lgb), i will be just a concerned (percived dyke) woman

Well, it all comes back to if you passable and stay hidden how will people ever know that this group exists!! Someone has to show themselves to the general population, it doesn't have to be you, but someone has to do it. People like Andrea James, Calpernia, etc. Are examples of this I suppose. Entertainment tonight spotlight that showed a few passable TS in a non-sensasionalist way is a start (strange that a fluff show like ET would educate); in fact, I think the passable well adjusted TS are coming out of the woodwork seemingly and presenting a much different view of our community (if such an unified community exists, which I don't think is the case).
