So my art teacher is absent today and when my sub comes to my table to take attendance she my friends say who they are and I say I'm Parker *lastname and she says oh that's weird they have you down as female... Fml so I just say "oh yeah they mess up the list" trying to brush it off and she kept going on saying "that's dumb" yeah it's good that I pass but I'd prefer the school not to create cruddy situations for me by putting sex on the attendance list. I am getting my permit soon and in ny you need a letter from a doc on letterhead saying your a transsexual and your predominant gender identity. Yes so I hope with that letter an my permit with M on it they will change it in the school system.

I dunno why she was finding it so weird, after three years at my old school I was still correcting my date of birth on everything. I'd been to the office, the medical centre, told the teachers each time it came up and still they were printing out document with the wrong DOB on. Big computer systems always make mistakes somewhere.

I didn't even know they had gender on the attendance sheet :/
At least people usually believe the 'oh, they just messed up.'

Yeah, it sucks that they put your sex down on something like an attendance sheet!  >:( The same sort of thing happened to me when I was in my last year of school. The substitute teacher noticed it said "F" but he told two of my other classmates who were helping him with the sheet. They just started laughing and yelled across the room to me that the office had made a mistake and that they had me as female. Lucky my class was a noisy one so no one else heard! But the teacher was telling me that I should go and get it changed to "M" at lunch time and I just went along with it haha

Oh boy, substitutes. I'm a teacher and I have a bunch of notes for subs. I know most of them don't even look at my notes which would be nice as I have disabled kids. So even if the teacher wrote down something like "goes by John" or something, chances are the sub wouldn't know.
It takes an act of congress to change stuff on those official lists. I've had kids whose phone nos. *can't* get changed for years. You'd think with computers and all...

I was also a teacher and I never saw gender on attendance lists. As for subs - they have it hard with the abuse many students dish out. I too always left notes and lots of things for students to do so there was little down time and less trouble for the subs.

I suspect if your patents went to the attendance office they my be able to get the gender at least changed on some less official docs.

My school system is all synced on the computer so all the official and unofficial things say the same thing. We have asked how to change it, they would only put Parker in parenthesis after my first name. Luckily that changed when I legally changed my name. Hopefully my school will acnowlage my state Id and my letter to change my sex in there system.
