...I wish that the home pages of dating sites made it easier to determine before creating an account which features are free and which features are "premium."

Meh.

That would be nice. But, then they couldn't reel you in as easy.

True. But I just close the account when I find I can't use it. So, it's back to OKCupid.

I just joined OKCupid last week. I love it. I'm actually going out with one of the girls from there tonight. Then, I'm meeting another one on Tuesday.

Wow. I always get the "Sorry you're not my type" messages. But I am going to the queer night at my favorite cafe tonight.

I've tried creating accts....but my "creative writing" skills are carefully honed to make me sound like a boring ol' serial killer who is finicky about Chinese food.

I always give it a day or two, then go back and re-read my "about me"...that's when I delete my account.

:(
...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

I've given up on this. I keep trying to write a good profile, but everytime I do it, I realize I don't actually know anything about myself.

I'm sorry you get a message like that. I normally don't make the first contact. I look at their profile, and if I like it then I will rate them. After that, I let them contact me. It seems to work pretty well. I'm having two pretty serious conversations with two women, and another 5 or so building conversations with others. My profile is actually quite short and does not give a lot of information. But, I did design it to promote question asking.  To keep the sex crazed people away I put right in it, in several places, that I am not interested in casual sex and to only contact me if you are looking for a serious relationship.

Connie, if you want, PM me and I will tell you my screen name so you can look me up. Maybe it will give you some ideas.
