One of the bottom choices is tattoos.

Do you have any tattoos? If not , why not?

If yes, what kind do you have? And if you got this pre androgyne realization, would you get a different one now? Or why did you get the tattoo that you got?

What degree of masculinity or feminity (or is it androgynous) is your tattoo?

What kind of tattoos do you imagine are androgynous? Or would you just get a tattoo that a member opposite of your birth sex might wear?

Would you ever consider getting a tattoo, or never?

Personally I don't like tattoos.  I don't have any and I don't plan to get any either.

P.S.  I do like men who have tattoos though, especially on the arms or back.  I think they make them look very, very, very sexy. ;D

I'm just not interested in modifying my body.  I don't have tattoos, I don't wear makeup or jewelry, I've never wanted to dye my hair, etc.

I don't have one (scared of needles), but if I did, it would be a Celtic/Polynesian design across my left shoulder-blade, surrounding my family's coat-of-arms. The coat-of-arms itself would cover my heart, to create an armor-like appearance.  :)

Personally, I think any person could pull it off (granted they have a well-shaped back and broad-ish shoulders).

I think tribal tatoos can be pretty androgynous, as well as anything to do with dragons.

I'm like childofthelight, i don't see myself making many modifications except cutting my hair and nails. Especially tattoos, it'd be like welding a immicky item of clothing to your skin.

Sorry to bust the bubble but I have a few I like them :)

Every time I see one, I wonder if that person will ever get tired of the design and want to change it. ;)

Since I reconstruct my life every few years, I doubt that I'd ever be happy in the long term if I were to get one.

I have considered getting one of my blood type though to be put in an inconspicuous place. it used to be a common thing in my family to do so and it saved one or two relatives at one time or another.

I think about when I get older and skin starts to sag around my backside what my tat will look like then, but I'll worry bout that then.

a tattoo isn't for everyone. i would not have a tattoo, but i really don't care one way or another if someone else has one. a matter of preference.

I will have 3 tattoos when I'm done my bod mods.  (I'm still debating on a couple piercings... can't decide yet, but the tats are for sure).

Each tattoo has a story.  All will be in dark brown lineart.

The first one I'm getting is the character OM (sometimes spelled OHM) on my right hip.  This is to represent my favourite guitarist, George Harrison, who always signed his name with this symbol, after about 1968 or so.  He died November 28 or 29 (brainfart... which was it?) 2001, when I was 14 years old.  It was he who inspired me to play guitar, which was a life-altering event for me.  For several years, it kept me alive and then it nearly killed me, changing my life for the better for awhile and then changing my life entirely (still not sure if it's for the better) when I was approximately 17.  It left me with a drug addiction that I am still trying to beat, but this tat is in memory of George Harrison who still inspires me to fight all the problems that I have been left with by my guitars.  After all, he died relatively young from lung cancer brought on by years of smoking--a form of substance abuse--and this tat will remind me of how he went.

The second tat will be a picture of my friend Hizzy as an angel on my right shoulderblade.  She died in a car accident that would not have occurred had I not told her "I don't have time to talk to you right now."  She would still be here if I hadn't been selfish with my time.  So I have decided that I will never tell a person I don't have time for them again and Hizzy will be my reminder of that for life.

The third tat, which will happen in a long time, will be a dragon which extends from my left thigh and wind around my left side back and forth to rest his head on my heart.  I was a victim of childhood abuse both from my parents and from the authorities in my school and even the police.  During my early childhood, my only friend was an invisible dragon named Brutus.  He protected my sanity and kept me alive for a period of time when I had no one else.

It is your body. The problem is most people don't use their brain when they get a tat. For centuries, different cultures have used tats, knowing "why" they got them and "where" to put them. I've seen a lot of great tats, but I would not have one.
If you want to get one, at least try to learn from other cultures the significance and try not to follow trends.

I like tats on men but it really depends what they are, though I'd like to say I'd date someone for their personality, humour blah blah blah. I'm not against either way, however since I look at them all day I can't date anyone with lousy artwork.  It will just bug me until I fix it, totally ruins a relationship when all I can look at is the lousy tribal on their arm done by joe blo down the road.  That and everyone always presumes you did their work being an artist and all.
I don't like tats on women though because they'll all merge in a hideous mess of inky colour, and names ... what is that about?  Plus we're going to have loads of grandma's with tattoos everywhere in a few years down the road. ~laugh~

Precisely.  And to remind me that no matter how bad it gets, I CAN survive it.

I dont have any tattoos but if I got any , yin yang would be one. On my arm or more likely on my lower back.

Like I explained in the post https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,6416.0.html that the yin yang is an important symbol to me. or with the pink blue (purple) colors as discussed in the post https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,8418.0.html.

From what I have seen, I think Yin Yang can be worn by both, and is androgynic.

I would even wear it as a temp tattoo if I didnt feel like anything permanent.

or a temp tattoo like

I want to get more tattoos.

I've a tattoo of a raven on my right upper arm. I want tattoos of more crows and ravens on my right side, and tattoos of owls on my left. Raven the mythological person is a man, Owl the mythological person is a woman, raven is the sun's bird, owl is the moon's, etc.

Quite an aviary you'd be collecting.

I don't have any tattoos, and don't have any plans to get one.  (Subject to change with sufficent quantities of Jack Daniels or Jose Cuervo).  If I were to get one, I would agree with Ken/Kendra and would probably go with a blue/pink yin yang symbol of some kind.

I believe it is a personal choice, and have no problems with them.  If you want/have one, great.  If you don't, that's great too.

Sitting firmly on the fence......Laurie
Ya put your right foot in.  You put your right foot out.  You put your right foot in and you shake it all about.  You do the Andro-gyney and you turn yourself around.  That's what it's all about.

They say sit on the fence, get splinters up yer arse, but I like to refer them to The Great Wall of China.

Tattoos are not for everyone, and my mom was awfully surprised when she learned that I'd been inked. She feels if I had wanted a tattoo, I would have gotten one at a younger age. But anyway, I have four and they are: a skull with cross bones on my left bicep and I also have a heart with a devil's tail and horns under my skull and then on my right bicep I have a butterfly and on my right thigh I have NO FEAR witha dagger going through it. I'm right now thinking about getting the cartilages in my ears pierced. Think it would be a nice birthday present for me. :eusa_think:
