isnt this amazing, it means someday they may be able to grow uterus's and vagina's for mtf s!

The fisrt two procedures were reported in 2007 http://humrep.oxfordjournals.org/content/22/7/2025.full.pdf+html.

Yet to my disappointment no progress has been made towards using this technique to make neo-vaginas from mouth tissue for transsexual, which is what they did for the girls with no vaginas.

Girls with the syndrome are born with no vagina. The patient often has a normal uterus, ovaries and external secondary sexual organs such as breasts, but cannot have sexual intercourse or give birth.

At a guess, it would seem the op is not necessary for most transsexuals. A functioning vagina can usually be created by inverting or adapting existing tissue. Using the method described would be enormously expensive and probably experimental.

Nice story though

It's probably one of those things that goes on the back burner until the time that the demand increases to the extent that would make it a profitable business for surgeons. This forum is so international in scope that this article might educate enough people and thus precipitate such demand eventually. I for one know that surgeons are forever looking for a cash cow niche to specialize in. Considering how great the tonsillectomy business was booming when I was a youngster, then it became wholesale radical mastectomies for several years, and carpel tunnel operations, an inordinate number of these surgeries being considered unnecessary in retrospect. Surgeons just want to make money, surgery is how they do it. Once this new procedure becomes popular the MtF community will be lining up on waiting lists.

Wouldnt a vagina have better and more natural lubrication, making it so you wouldnt have to use lubricants?

Experimental, yes, expensive not at all...very cheap indeed..

plus for us all that would be needed to be doen would be to construct the labias, meatus, and neo-clitoris, which would be a piece of cake compared to the current penile inversion technique.

I'm guessing this isn't just plug'n play. I see the apparent potential with the mucosal tissue transplant, but what about the nerves? maybe some sort of combination of current techniques and this? All in all, good topic and great step towards some sort of mtf applications.
each day stepping through :-X :) :D >:( :( ??? :-\ :'( :embarrassed: | maybe one day truly :D

I think I'm about to go for it. I did it.

Understand. But what I was getting is is why?

A MtF op uses the existing tissue. Tried, tested and functioning.

This procedure, however amazing it is, is designed for women who lack that organ.

To Jill:
its totaly fine, I can understand your skepticism and I was unsure whether it was possible at first or not, as im not very good at science or medical knowledge. Thanks for providing more links and information on the subject, I apreciate it. Also, I love your avatar.
Cheers,
