Dear Dr Cath

I'M 36 and after years of denial, I came out as a gay transvestite eight years ago. My family have fully accepted me.

I live full-time as a woman and have found a man I want to spend the rest of my life with. I want to have a complete sex-change operation, but he is against it. I can't understand this as he loves me being feminine. I love him and don't want to lose him but feel the need to have the operation.

Well I'm not sure I get why a "gay transvestite" would want to change sex?

If she means they're a gay couple, with her being just very effeminate, then of course the partner isn't going to want her to become a female. He may love her being feminine, but a gay man won't want her to be FEMALE. And I'm not sure why SHE would want to be female if she's really an effeminate gay man?

And if she's really a TS, then she may not have much choice. Her GID will dictate what she has to do to.

something tells me the original letter and response are cooked as per tabloid norm...
they throw in letters from time to time, this is proably another conservative attemt to  sucttle ts acceptance, by makeing Straight TS girls out to be GAY transvestites because we want to be with men and have the op...
