When Did your Voice Drop?

I'm now 6 months into T therapy and my voice is still in a feminine pitch much to my dismay. My friends, who I see all the time, have noted it's dropped significantly (I started off with a rather high voice) but it's still not male enough for me to pass based on my voice. When I'm in the car i'll sing and practice keeping a male pitch and it sounds great (I get a great male pitch if I sing along to David Bowie lol) but the second I'm in the real world with people I find I get excited, because I like to interact with people, and my voice goes up as a result. I'm still holding out that in the next six months my voice will be the next thing hit by the T and it will drop significantly but theres always the possibility it won't drop anymore... anyways my question is, at what point, while you guys were on T, did your voice drop and do you have any tips to help me lower my own voice?

Thanks guys!

11 months and 2 weeks for me to get consistant "sir" on the phone and in person talking FML

It was closer to 11 months for me to drop heaps at once

Part of my problem was talking from the top of my throat. Like if you inhale helium, you will talk weird for a little after when you readjust. Same kind of thing. It's also something that's hard to recognize without recording. The way voice sounds vs what Ithink I sound is very different. I still get misgendered over the phone at over 2 years on T.

Can't help with the original question because I'm not on T yet, but I felt like adding that I know a cisguy (at least as far as I know, he's cis) and he has a voice that wouldn't pass on the phone.

Everyone is different. Mine dropped within a couple months, and continued to drop until I was about 6 months on..

As of late I've noticed it's dropped a bit more, and when I sing I can really drop it quite low, but it's still not passable in real life situations =( Sigh, here's hoping it's starting to drop now and will continue to do so. I've been using the gel since day one, so all my changes have come about much slower that had I been using the shots but still, I'm tired of waiting for my voice to drop lol.

Mine dropped at around 3 months and again around 5 months.  Since then it continues yo change and I am just over a year on T.  The changes were only noticeable to me by looking back through my monthly videos - when I got my first "sir" on the phone it was surreal because I thought my voice still sounded female in my head.

Probably around 2-3 months, but it's still dropping.

Mine started dropping within the first 3 months but still continues to drop 1.5+ years on T

Mine didn't even begin to sound like a guy's until 9 months on T. I still hear female...but people are starting to hear male, whereas they didn't before.

That's encouraging. I hope mine drops soon, I'd love for my voice to be passing by the time I go back to college... ugh that will mark me being on T for a year with testosterone levels in the high range for a normal cis-male. Common body, catch up  :icon_ashamed:

It varies from person to person. My voice started changing about 2weeks in

I'm 5 months on T, and I've had no changes to my voice at all.  I'm on a low dose of cream because my doctor refuses to do it any other way...  I wish my voice would start changing soon, but unfortunately it doesn't seem likely.

It may just be a kind of placebo effect, but I swear my voice has already changed a little. It's been 4wks and I didn't start on the typical "low dose", just jumped right in. It's not a very noticeable or helpful change, but I think it does sound just a bit deeper/raspier-- sort of like when you've got a sore throat, lol.

this is one of those things that is different person to person. i'm 5 almost 6 months on t and my voice had dropped considerably within a month and a half. i was lucky though, my voice pre-t sounded identical to my older brother before he hit puberty. my voice is actually deeper then his now  :o

As far as I can recall, my voice cracked around week 8 or 9, it's been 15 years so I only remember highlights, I've no clue on the more subtle changes.  Within 4 months of starting I was definitely in the male range.

To be honest this low dose stuff people mention being inflicted with seems like a crock.  The idea is to kick start puberty and get on with our lives, not wallow in limbo.  Sure ovaries were never intended to live in a testosterone bath, but they come out, and once they are gone, you can halve the dosage.

I would disagree with you on that one a bit, I use low low does gel but my numbers are at the very edge of the high end male spectrum. Unfortunately my father doesn't have a very deep voice either so if it's coded I probably won't get a very deep voice without extra effort on my part, which kind of sucks..

I do appreciate everyone commenting though! I hope some more guys who were late the get a deep voice chim in though x)
