From RM site: "The Basic Packer is created by using the same silicone gels used in our FTM Medical Prosthetics, but have only 2 layers of soft silicone (in contrast, our Prosthetic Penis models have up to 7 layers of silicone). This still provides a realistic feeling flaccid penis, and will lay and tuck very nicely in the pants, much like a real penis. Unlike other packer models on the market, our packer is not sticky, and should not need to be powdered."
I think "gels" is being used strictly because I think silicone is a gel, but there are only two layers. The top is kind of the skin (can be pulled away a bit if done carefully, esp by the balls). The lower layer creates the form. I think you'd be *safe* poking it, as in it won't ooze, but you could damage it. I am sure people have done this, but I don't know what tool you'd use to do it. You have to not mind possibly damaging a $80 packer.
BTW, I don't think it's so pure. I understand allergies to silicione are rather rare. I get itching (but no rash). I am guessing since it is porous it is not entirely clean. (And yes, I wash it.) I would not recommend boiling.
