Hi everyone.

I've been on hormones for two months now and have noticed some changes but I'm still very worried.

My shoulders are too big and I have a lot of muscle/fat on my upper back that just looks ugly and it hurts because I feel I'll always look that huge.

I also have a lot of fat in the stomach. I'm desperately trying to lose weight I'm watching my calories trying to stay under 1300 and I'm walking almost everyday and doing Zumba on the wii for 20 minute sessions. Last time I checked my weight I was 168 and that's disgusting. I'm 5'8 by the way.

I hoping weight has something to do with my back because I really want it to slim down. But I want to see hips to expand to and from what I hear starting at 18 can give you great results.

I don't know. Honestly I'm scared out of my mind and I just had to ask this question because I want to hear from people who have started about the same age.

I'll be 3 months when I turn 19 I'm also feeling bad about that.

Maybe I just need to be patient lose weight and let hormones work.

I really want to know if my hips can expand though. I'm I still young enough, is there a possibility?

I'm at a rough start and I really want to know where I'm heading.

hey!  i started taking hormones at age 17, but a bone age test confirmed that i'd stopped growing by the time i was on them.  and trust me, even if Them Bones aren't growing, hips will like appear out of nowhere and it's like crazy.  it's not even a question of like eating a bunch either, i'm a skinny rail and have no boobs but hey apparently The Genetic Lottery deemed fit to bestow on me some ridiculously unbelievable hips.  they've grown like 4 inches since starting and NONE of that is supposed to be bone.  some of it might, i don't know, but like.

yeah, you'll be alright.  give yourself a year or so and you'll be shocked how quickly things can happen in retrospect.  i used to be paranoid about my shoulders and my hips and stuff and while i still have my days because i'm basically body issues, the blog, i know from experience that they're not only well within The Cis Lady Norm they're pretty much identical to my mom's.

Give the hormones some time. Things WILL happen.

I think losing weight is my biggest concern right now. Since sixth grade I've had trouble losing weight. I managed to get down to 158 and back then the rest of the weight was primarly muscle.

I went through a phase starting in the 8th grade when my insecruties pushed me toward working out so I did push-ups and pretty much mastered them. That's why I'm hopeful about my back. Don't get me wrong I still have some pretty ugly muscles on my arms because I lifted weights now and again but my back is my biggest concern. I think push-ups targets the back and that's why I'm so bulky. I'm hoping with spiro and estro I can remove all that muscle and shake off the fat through diet and exercise.

Unforunately eating habits are impossible to control. I'm using gum as a helper but it isn't the most effective way. I cook to... Amateur wise anyway but my family calls it professional.

Anyway I hope that can help. I know a lot of you girls who are my height are skinny and I want to be that so bad but I'm still struggling.

Are there any suggestions on losing weight? I'm mostly at home with online classes so that doesn't help much.

I want to thank everyone for responding. I think I feel a little better to today than I did yesterday. That usually varies with me. I'm sorry about not introducing myself before. My name is Veronica or at least it will be one day.

I hope to hear from you girls you're all really helpful, thank you. :)

Age doesn't matter at all. Transition at your own speed, don't feel the need to "beat the clock." There is no clock. Enjoy your transformation!!!  ;D

A 500 calories a day deficit works out to losing 1 pound a week, since a pound of fat is around 3,500 calories. So, your current diet of 1,300 is about a 500 point deficit. The recommended diet is 2,000/cal a day split 75/25 carbs to proteins. Some people dispute the carb intake, but that's what most dieticians say so take what you will. You are trying to kill your muscles though and your body loves muscles. Everyone's does. That's why they are targeted last to compensate for the energy your not getting by running a deficit.

Remember, when you lose weight by triggering your body to target muscles to burn energy, you also disrupt all other functions since your body plain slows your metabolism first to conserve energy rather then burn muscles. You don't want that. Not good for someone who is taking hormones which is a delicate thing in itself. Plus, it's not good for someone who wants to lose weight since the best way to lose weight is to do the opposite: speed up your metabolism.

But, I won't lie, by only eating 750 calories a day you should lose about 3/lbs a week. So, at 168 lbs so in 30 weeks, you will be down to 138. There probably wouldn't be any ill effects other then the diarrhea and fatigue you will experience while not eating. But I wouldn't do that since you're starting out HRT and that has its risks in itself and you are so young and you can lose the weight slowly. I'd stick to where you are at. In one year you will lose the amount of weight you would if you only consumed 750/cal a day for 30 weeks. But it will probably be way sooner with all the exercise you're doing. It sounds like you're doing great. I'd add a stationary bike or running as endurance training and fast-paced hardcore aerobics is the NUMBER 1 way for losing weight and the most healthy. That's key. But that's what I know about weight loss. I have done the whole not eating thing before to burn unwanted fat. It didn't work well only a little bit. And any that I did lose actually came back worse.
