I would like to begin my transition as soon as possible seeing as I am not becoming any more female just by sitting around  ;) I know I need to speak with a gender therapist to have them identify me as being transsexual before they can refer me to begin HRS. The problem is I have no idea where to find a gender therapist. I did a quick google search and all that seemed to come up was gender counseling. Like for people who are having family issues with coming out etc. etc. but nothing specific towards transsexuals. Any suggestions?

Southern California is a big area, bigger than most states.  Can you at least pin point a county?

I am in Ventura county, and there are no WPATH member therapists here.

Amanda, call US Riverside's health clinic and let them know you are trans and looking for a gender therapist. Keep in mind even if you need to drive, it won't usually be like EVERY week, more like every other week or once a month. Also, Orange County has a support group every first and third Friday at the Orange County LGBT Center. In LA, if you want to drive, each Friday at 8:00 - 9:30 pm there's Transgender Perceptions free support group at the Village on McCadden, associated with the LA LGBT Center. Good luck :) Meghan

Oops, I meant UC Riverside! I believe they help even if you aren't a student. If not, they have resources :)
