I just came out to my dad as trans.  He was the last member of my immediate family to come out to.  Anyway.  My dad has always been a great and loving father.  And he still is.  He calmly asked me about the process and about my thoughts and feelings and will I ever find anyone who will love me romantically if I do this?  etc.  Even though he was calm he was freaking out on the inside.  We both cried.  But I had never seen my dad so emotional before.

I know he will love me no matter what and I think the conversation went about as good as these kinds of conversations go.  But I just feel bad.  I feel like I made him so sad.  I guess the down side to having an amazing father is you never stop striving to be great for them.  And this seems like a giant step back.

I am sorry.  I know I am incredibly lucky.  So many trans people get kicked out or shunned and I don't mean to belittle their experiences.  I just need a couple e-hugs and encouraging words right now.

Hugs! You didn't hurt your Dad, you're letting him help you achieve yourself. He probably didn't know there would be so much heavy lifting, that's all! Hugs, Devlyn

This is good. You have a parent who lives and excepts you . That's great news :)

Your Dad (family & friends) have always loved your inner soul that is you, that will never change, all that is changing is the packaging that is congruent with your soul. Wonderful that your Dad is not afraid to show his emotion to cry. Very fortunate that you are blessed with with open minded, understanding & accepting family & friends. May your transition always be this way.
Hugs
