I find there are so many companies that say they are transgender friendly but, in all actuality they would not hire someone trans. I was just wondering what you guys do for work. Did you transition on the job or got hired trans.

I work for an electronics assembly house. I work in boy mode, and get called Devlyn. I'm not trasitioning, but came out to them as a crossdresser. It's been nothing but positive.

What companies were you refering to that don't adhere to their policies? And the obvious question,  what about you? Hugs, Devlyn

I work as a Tax Consultant, as it's quite a large firm, they're quite professional about it (I had to tell them because I had to supply records of old school certificates etc), but in the workplace I forget I'm trans 90% of the time. In my experience and from the experience of others, being trans isn't a huge obstacle and in many cases isn't a factor at all.
It takes balls to go through SRS!

If it makes you feel better about it, sure, we can say that.

Let's not go there folks.

I'm retired now, but I held many different jobs both as a (ugh) male and as a woman.

I spent the last few years working as a paralegal doing bankruptcies, wills, living trusts, etc. (as myself, Sarah and was well accepted by those I worked with)

Overall i have had trouble finding work. I was hired by one company then fired when they found out. Another hired me knowingly and I got laid off. Now I'm in school and I work for a Catholic School (don't ask). It is not a job I want but, I have no choice. I feel very uncomfortable there and it drives me crazy. I not only have to deal with the staff but, Its an ordeal when you don't know if a parent if going to complain about you working with there child.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. May I ask if you worked for small companies or large ones?  The present arrangement makes you uncomfortable, so that's no good. It's not easy going to work when you don't like it. Hugs, Devlyn

I've worked for both. A small company is the one that hired me knowing I'm trans. A large company was the one who hired and fired me.

I work for a mobile carrier and started transitioning on the job. when I got the ok to start using the appropriate bathroom HR was dead serious about me letting them know if anyone gives me a hard time. its been a pretty positive experience so far with few minor bumps. I used to do reporting but that got outsourced. so they put me in with sales force management which us different.
