Twelve year old Matthew Lannon testified at the Rhode Island State House in support of same-sex marriage saying his family just wants to be treated like every other family instead "they have to come again here year after year and explain over and over why their love is equal to yours."

Though his family may not be traditional, They certainly have the most important ingredient that makes a family; LOVE. And any parent would be proud to have such a well spoken young man as their son. Well done Matthew.

This boy has a Mom and a Dad, both who are gay.  He loves them and they and their partners love him.  I would say that is a multiple win.

It does not take courage or bravery to change your gender.  It takes fear of living one more day in the wrong one.~me

The link seems to be dead. Not sure why.

Dead for me too now, I think it's because it's no longer "Breaking News".

Here is the Providence Journals's follow on story:

Providence boy's testimony that his moms should be able to marry getting national attention

This sort of story, where a perfectly normal little boy stands up and tells the world to stop hassling his mom and dad is going to do a lot more for all LGBT people than anything else.

As always, with these types of stories, the feedback is so much more informative than the story itself.

Here, it is the naysayers on the defensive. What that means, I suggest, is, we have stood our ground, stuck to a single issue of equality. We are succeeding.

Granted there is still a long way to go. But at the end of the day, it hasn't been about declarations, anti discrimination laws, demonstrations.

The restrictive laws were removed. we demonstrated, (well, actually you have, I'm the coward here who hid), that we don't have horns, we don't hurt anyone and the world will carry on turning as it should.
