I'm getting my hair cut soon (hopefully if I don't chicken out). Kind of scared about how my parents will react but at the same time maybe it'll be easier to face them if I'm brave and just go ahead and get it done. I'm sick of them taking the piss out of me anyway, it's not like that's gonna change.

Anyway. I have no idea about anything to do with hair. At all. I'm useless when it comes to anything remotely to do with fashion and style. All my previous hair cuts have been pretty much dictated by my mum and the hairdresser. When I wanted it short, they gave me a bob. When I said I wanted it shorter, they gave me a pixie cut. Even though my hair is pretty short it's still feminine.

What kind of hair styles are 'in' for guys at the minute? I want something pretty short, none of that floppy business, because I can't stand hair on the back of my neck or in my eyes. I can't get it shaved off because my mum would go absolutely mental. Also, my hair is dyed red right now.

Any suggestions? :p

Well, I'm no expert on short haircuts, but if you can't seem to get anything but feminine styles at your stylist, try a barber shop. Those guys don't know how to do anything but male styles. Plus it might be an interesting new experience for you. You need to give a bit more slack about fashion and all with them, though. They don't tolerate finickiness as much as women's stylists do.

I know nothing about fashion, I literally just want it cut, but people read me as female so when I ask for it short they give me a girl's style.. I don't feel like I pass well enough to go somewhere where they only do men, and if I ask for a men's cut, I'll need to tell them which cut.

Faux-hawks and captain america cuts are in right now. :) Dont do bangs though, bangs tend to make you look alot younger and they tend to be used in little boy haircuts. I suggest going to a gay neighborhood honestly, theyd be more used to it, and understand. Of course it also depends on the hairdresser.
I know what you mean, my father never has let me cut it short so its about down to my waist now. I plan on getting a mohawk when theyll allow me, A.K.A. when I come out to them, and when i work up the courage to.

If you want something guyish for hair style, tell them to use clipper cut #3 or 4 on sides and back. Then leave about and inch and a half on top and give iy that messed up look or spiked look on top using paste or gel..this will keep it off your neck and have no bangs. Just and idea.....good luck, Kayla
