Anyone here into cosplay? I dont just mean yes or no answers, lets see some pictures  :)

I've done way too many characters to post, all of them videogame characters mainly Resident Evil, Assassin's Creed etc, so heres my DA which has most of them on there: http://zombiehunt3r.deviantart.com/

Also if you do, why do you do it? Just for fun or a deeper reason? I do it cause its fun but also I think its because even just for a little while I want to pretend Im not me.. Pretending Im the character feels alot better. I cant identify with myself at all, my body is completely wrong. I've never seemed to not pass in a cosplay pic though which is good too. I have only ever been male characters, no interest at all in females as thats not what I am. I dont care if people cosplay as the opposite gender, people do that all the time who aren't trans so I dont think it even matters generally if you do it as your current gender or what you really are inside. Just gets me out of this situation psychologically for a little while I suppose. Once my body can be fixed though my costumes will look so much better on me too. Cant wait to get everything started, will be nothing but positives for once to gain from this

I used to do it a lot when I was in college (and pre-medical transitioning)!

But now I have neither the time nor effort to do it. But I love cosplaying. I love taking on a character and playing them even for a bit. It's not even about the dressing up to me. Now, I only can do it once in a blue moon-- I'm currently putting together a Thorin Oakenshield costume before the second Hobbit movie comes out.
I help run a group called PinoyFTM for Filipino FTMs or FTMs living in the Philippines.

I love dressing up and playing characters, etc. in general, and I've always wanted to cosplay, but never got through with it.
The closest to cosplaying was dressing up as one of my OC's (a guy as well. I needed an excuse to get some 'manly' stuff, lol )
But I still have a big list of characters I want to cosplay. It are mainly guys, but one or two girls too.
I'm not quite into anime though, and most cosplayers dress as anime characters. I'd rather dress as a book character, or something like that, as I love reading.

Anyone knows Skye? He looks pretty badass methinks. He is one of the chars I want to cosplay some day.

Me! *raises hand*
Glad to see I'm not the only one here!

I started cosplaying back in November 2009 and I'm totally in love with it! I've always been a geeky and artistic/creative person anyway so it's like the best hobby I could ever have hahah. I've met a lot of new amazing friends ever since I started cosplaying, some who are FtM just like me.

Here's a photo of me in cosplay:

I also have a cosplay blog which I update quite frequently so feel free to become a Follower if you're interested! :)
I'm also to be found at deviantArt and cosplay.com.

Now that I have two jobs I am hoping to be able to afford to cosplay now.

Cosplay is something I would love to do, but it's not in the cards for me right now.
Feel the need to ask me something or just want to check out my blog?  Then click below:

I've always enjoyed other people's costumes at conventions but never had the courage to dress up myself unless it was Halloween. And even then only if it was something manly and comfortable.

These days now though even at 35 I feel like it might still be fun. ;)

We just went to Trotcon and my wife and I cosplayed Vinyl Scratch and Octavia (see user icon :P). It was her first time out in full woman mode and she did so well! She was definitely more at ease than I've seen her in, well, pretty much ever. She got mam'd once and some guy even hit on her!  ;D

Maybe if I get the OK from the wife I'll upload some pictures. Or make her do it. :P

Comfort is a funny thing with cosplay. Once I get into character, I can usually brush off criticism by reminding myself that I'm a character now. If a smartass gives me a hard time, I just do what my character would do. it's silly, but it works.

I will once I figure out how!  ;D

It should be noted that we cosplayed "humanized" versions of the ponies, as is popular to do in the fandom.

wow I havent been here in ages..

Nice to see some pics  :)  Good to see more are into this.  Unfortunately this can be quite an expensive hobby though which sucks. I really want to cosplay Loki but an average commission cost is around $600..

Completely agree with this. I feel alot more confident when Im in costume. I only do this in private right now but hope to get to a con one day. Acting like the character would is a good way of dealing with it and I would try to do so too. If it works all the better. Too many elitists in this domain who think they're wonderful and have a right to criticise everyone else and make fun of them. If anything its because they're insecure in themselves so they're not worth bothering about

Well, humanized ponies anyway. I'm not skilled enough to make a full suit for a pony cosplay, nor do I really want to. I like that the fandom is down with humanized pony characters

I love cosplay, even though unfortunately I have never cosplayed a female character. Most of my costumes have been military uniforms, my last venture was in a captain's mess dress uniform of the Royal Manticoran Navy.

Right now I'm on the fence. I could be an outstanding Major from Hellsing at this point, although at my present rate of weight loss I could possibly pull of a decent Roy Mustang by Project A-kon next year (assuming I pass on HRT, and that's a big assumption at this point!). Or on the other hand, I might be able to pull of a reasonable, if matured Koyomi Mizuhara from Azumanga Daioh, or I could be delusionally optimistic.

I guess you could say, I'm trying to decide on my swan song for my male cosplay and my debut for female cosplay... or whether to debut at all. I'm certainly not getting any younger.... but the cosplayers are!

I've cosplayed as Szayel from Bleach and hope to one day cosplay as several other characters.

My latest. WIP T-1000 (Terminator 2)

Call to John now..

The hand looks a little fake here but solved my problem of how to make the finger point. Its a cast of a screen used prop. I have nearly the full costume now for his different costumes. All Im missing to complete the motorcycle cop variant is the LAPD helmet. I have all the clothing items but they are with my gf right now. This is all I have here right now to use. The camera doesnt show my badges well at all but they look really nice in person. Hoping to go to a con one day as T-1000. My gf may also be TX  :P

I certainly dont have Robert's body but Im working on it. Already lost about 8kg in the past few months. I know everything will fit me so much better once I can have top surgery too. Just going to take awhile but hopefully one day I'll get there.. Not exactly claiming to look like him, just fun to cosplay

Heh I've cosplayed a few times in the past and before coming out I used to "joke" about crossplaying but never followed through with it until now.  I figured it would be a safe environment to try going out in public as a girl.

I went with Celty from Durarara since she has a big helmet and the whole cosplay was fairly easy to make and I could show off some curves... And well she doesn't talk so no worries about trying to make my voice pass  :embarrassed: I had no idea how revealing it would feel when I went to a convention dressed up. Despite feeling a lot more naked (for lack of a better term) than I expected it was overall an amazing experience and I did have a lot of fun and it was definitely a feeling I wanted to keep going.

Here's a few pics my friend snagged when she got me to play around with poses:

My next cosplay I wanna do is Bridget from Guilty Gear as my non hiding behind a helmet cosplay.  While it's a character that is a guy who's cross dressing I want to see how well I can get make up looking to see if I could pass as a woman.  For now at least it seems like the perfect idea since if I don't pass it still works for the cosplay, if I do pass then well big win :D
