How to work on my voice

I'm planning to work on my voice soon and I was curious what my fellow ladies used to get the right tone. Should I get a PC microphone and record with some kind of software and then play back to get an idea of what I sound like and should change? What would you recommend?

I like a little tape recorder personally, but some like to use their pc along with spectrum analyzers and all that jazz. I tend to think some of the analyzer stuff can make you try to push things too high just to get to some ideal female point in frequency when really, you may not have to. I preferred to use my own ears to determine if it sounded right to me or not along with feedback from others irl.  My voice isn't the greatest in my mind, but I always get gendered correctly female on phones, intercoms, etc. which is usually the hardest places to get right.

I'm sure you will get lots of advice on here though and just try various methods until you find one you like for yourself.

I'm afraid to go by my own voice because I hear your voice always sounds different to you than it does to everyone else.

I used a my PC, and sometimes the voice reorder in my mobile. The recordings sounded little bit different in each one and sooo different from what I hear when I talk   . But if you going for the PC there is a chance you may overboard with the frequency so watch out for that.
