I'm in New Orleans which is like 3 hours away. There's lots of trans women here... LOTS
To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are.

No, but I lived in Mobile eons ago, so I have some familiarity with the area. I still have family down there, though it's been a while since I've visited.

Your area is great place. I lived there years ago, it was a great place for a Tgirl, lots of thrift stores for shopping, doctors were great for E if you need, plenty of men, etc.... Local Hospitals are receptive/helpful.

Have fun young girl. Just go out being yourself.

Jennifer, can i ask which endo you see in pensacola? I only know of one, referred to me by my therapist, and he's less than stellar so far :(

Be careful girls.

Once in Pensacola after having my perscription from my doctor the pharamist refused the fill the second months HRT prescription & then refused to return my original scrip from my doctor. I had to return to my doctor & pay for another office visit & a new 3 month scrip. Another pharamist tried to triple overcharge for simple type HRT.

However it's a beautilful area, have fun.

Thanks for the warning Francis :) Luckily, i use the target pharmacy close to where i live. They know me and are always great when filling my prescriptions. My only issue is that the endo i see is horrible, and i do mean HORRIBLE at returning patient calls. I've been waiting almost 3 weeks for a response on upping my dosage, and still nothing. If there was anyone else i could go to, i would drop him in a second. Also, he started to get onto me during my last visit because i wasn't dressing in dresses or full makeup. For perspective, i didn't have one stitch of yucky boys clothing on, but since it wasn't a dress he mentioned that if i wanted to transition, i needed to actually transition, which offended me quite a bit.

Nadine,

When I was there I just called the local major hospital & told them I was a normal pleasant MTF transexual. I meant no one any harm however I needed help with a physician that would help with HRT. They were real nice, one nice woman nurse checked their physician base & then connected me with a physician. He easily prescribed HRT after my first meeting. I was dressed as a normal average woman.

Maybe this helps. It is hard to find a physician that really understands our needs.

Dr. Behari singing karaoke? I just have to see that! I'm still reserving judgement on him, I see him again in June....hopefully it goes better than last time. Oh and for staying on the beach, I did that a couple years ago with my wife, I think it was the hilton garden, and we didnt realize it was spring break when we booked the rooms, so yeah, that, was quite the experience Lol. It's a really nice hotel, great restaurant inside so, h20 I think It's called.

Former Pensacola dweller for over 7 years here, and now living down in Orlando. A friend of mine recently had her name changed denied in Escambia; I hope you all never have to go through that. Orlando is pretty laid back, and the community here is quite well established. The support groups over at The Center are great, there are a couple great therapists, but sadly only one (maybe two) endocrinologists. Excited to hear my hometown is welcoming; may have to make a trip again this summer. I usually visit a few times a year for family and friends.

Did the Escambia county court give a reason for denying the name change?

The reason she said the judge gave was that it would be "misleading, particularly to women in public restrooms" which is ludicrous. Trying to pull the court records to understand exactly what was said, but I can't seem to track them down. Apparently the judge called her by the wrong pronouns the entire time, as well. Just a terrible experience overall.

What a horrible experience, I am so sorry for your friend I am sure the atmosphere must have been like a circus. The actions of the judge were completely unprofessional but it does not surprise me (especially in Escambia county). We had the whole "Public Restroom" debate here in Gainesville a few years ago, I found out during this time that the majority of people are so ignorant of what it means to be transsexual, so it is very easy for the bigots at the top to scare parents to death by claiming trans women are just perverted cross dressers who will go into the women's restrooms and try to assault their daughters!

The thing that always scared me was even for someone who passes 100% if anything ever happened and a police officer asked for ID and seen a big "M" instead of "F" they could technically arrest you and I assume you would be charged under some sort of voyeurism or public indecency charge which would automatically classify a person as a sex offender. I so love rural Florida (sarcasm)!!!
