Logan1986

hello everyone. It's been a while since I was on here. It's great to see how everyone is looking happier these days! Here's my bad ass moment of 2013. I lost about 40lbs and completed a 11 mile long obstacle course called the Tough Mudder.

Logan, you look great and congrats on the weight loss! That is what I'm working on this year too and hope to lose 50 to 60 pounds before top surgery. Exercise isn't my problem...I can work out and still eat like a pig, lol. How did you do it?

Well done!  I'm jealous, my work is doing Tough Mudder as a team this year, and I was about to sign up for it, then found out I was less than a month too young.  I've wanted to do something like that my whole life, so maybe next year.

Well I will start this by saying I'm not a personal trainer, nutritionist, or doctor. I did a lot of research and have personal experience but just because it was right for me doesn't mean it's right for everybody!
Food was my biggest issue as well (they always say weight loss is 70-90% what you eat and you can never out exercise a bad diet). I read about the keto diet online and decided to give it a try. I had a huge amount of success with it, because unlike other diets that left me feeling starved or like I was controlled by counting every last calorie keto just left me feeling full. At first I was very strict with how many carbs I ate, and it became second nature. When I felt like I needed a break, I took a break. I'm still very conscious of what I eat but not like at first. If you like meat, cheese, and leafy green vegetables I highly recommend doing some research on ketosis. Also if anyone wants to private message me about it feel free. Hopefully this wasn't too long of a reply haha.

Thanks for the info. Sounds sorta like the Atkins diet from what I've read in the past few minutes. I'm probably just going to cut out junk, use portion control, and go get a treadmill.

It is a similar idea to the Atkins diet but I try to refrain calling it that because people have their own preconceived ideas about that! Good luck with your journey! Is there a fitness thread on here? If not maybe we can start one.

You look great Logan! I'm in the same boat as Simon too - 50-60 pounds to lose but I love food so much lol. I've considered a low carb type diet but I've got high cholesterol (from the weight gain too lol) :(

@Simon You're a complete badass man! :)

@Logan Good job on doing Tough Mudder, I did the rugged maniac with one of our secretaries and it was a lot of fun! I'd like to do Tough Mudder, but trying to drag her along with me. I watched some of the videos for that race, and I am afraid we may be too short for some of the obstacles (both 5'2"). Did you find that you had to be at least average height for some of it?

Stationary maybe. I don't go outside too much. I'm allergic to the sun (technically UV light) and I break out in horrible hives with overexposure, even with sunblock. Even happens when I'm in the car sometimes, lol.

Lol, nice to see some people on here taking up cycling! I started cycling many years ago, and got addicted soon after I started. Sitting on a seat like that for so long is a pain (literally) but you get used to it eventually... Well, sort of, haha. It is a wonderful way to keep in shape though. Great for the heart, and not bad for the knees. *cough*RUNNING*cough*

There are some seats that you can get to make it a bit more tolerable though.

Haha yeah, I loooooove riding! I ride nearly everyday, with intention to ride everyday of 2014, so far I'm on track :)

My bum is used to it now, but not junk ;D t has made that interesting :/

I only have a crappy MTB at the moment, I'll eventually upgrade but I love riding in general on bike paths and loving single track :)

The monkey bars and rings were a little tough. I'm only 5'5'' so I would imagine it would be a little tougher with a shorter arm span but still possible. There are a lot of walls to climb over, for most of them I boosted my best friend up so he could reach the top and then random people we happened to be by gave me a boost. At the beginning they make you take a pledge to help all your fellow mudders, and people really stuck to it. Everyone was out there like we were one big team.
