So I was thinking...  (scary right lol)

What if while we all consider ourselves 'family' to some degree we do some sudo-adoptions.

I myself am in need of guidance and from what ive seen here there are many more in my position.

I think it would be nice to have that one person to call 'sis' or 'mom' adoptively speaking.

Maybe im just this misguided one lol but having that more intimate support even if its through just

Writing here would be nice. Again that is my opinion.

It would serve to give comfort to those new to this and answers/assisntance to others looking to expand there mind.

Hi Erin,

Great idea in fact.

To a degree, I feel this already happens at a subconscious level. Or an unofficial level.

I think to put wheels on your idea. perhaps the "Mods" could put together some basic guidelines for possible Mentors to abide by. Mentoring is quite a serious business. It requires a great deal of trust by both parties and would have to have a code of practice to be really effective.

By way of example. Just because I can read a dress pattern and make a dress, doesn't qualify me to teach dressmaking. Dressmaking is quite a complex art, with many ways of producing the same results. I think it would be quite unfair of me to spruck my immature knowledge of dressmaking on to anyone, even though I can make a dress; doesn't mean to say it's right.

The pathway through ->-bleeped-<- is long, windy and has many individual branches. Which in some cases is right for one and wrong for another. However there are some basic fundamentals and principles that MUST BE followed to ensure a safe, meaningful and positively affirming outcome is achieved.  It's these fundamentals and principles that should form part of the code of practice.

With all that said; there is really nothing stopping you from following particular members, whom you find some form of affinity through and simply asking them your questions.

Feedback from others on this matter?

Be safe, well and happy.
Lotsa huggs
Catherine

It's a nice notion Erin.

I'd embrace it fully if not that life has burned me too many times where the internet is concerned, and thus, it tends to make me paranoid as hell now.

Ideally I think Devlyn and Cindy though have earned a fair measure of respect.

I like to think of them more like professors, than anything else. I can always quit the course, or get booted off campus, but I don't think they need fear losing the respect.

I'd like to picture myself as the relative that is loud, a definitely loud opinion, that always shocks everyone in the family. The aunt some will love, some will hate some will love and hate, all because of 'did you hear what aunt Lesley said this time? oh she's going to catch it this time'.

I think the only reason people keep me around, is they know I mean well, and would never do anything to harm anyone intentionally, and I won't tolerate anyone hurting anyone I consider family.

Anyone hurts you Erin, let me know about it.
I make a great friend, and I am the wrong person to make an enemy :)
Well being TG is no treat, but becoming separated has sure caused me more trouble that being TG ever will be. So if I post, consider it me trying to distract myself from being lonely, not my needing to discuss being TG. I don't want to be separated a lot more than not wanting to be male looking.

Lesley, thanks for the kind words. I left here in a huff once, Cindy came and made me get back in the boat. She's the  big sister to many of us. She is to me. Hugs, Devlyn

Seriously, is there anything else?

That's brilliant. And perfectly put.

I've had a good number of moms and sisters through my transition and they are all loved because they were there when I needed them for what I needed them for. I think you'll find that a good number of us believe in paying that help forward.

That being said, should you ever need anything, please let me know. If I can't help, I'm sure I know someone who can.

Likewise, a great idea, i've been doing that to my friends on skype from the start.
But yeah it should be done in general throughout the community
So sis, whatever you need just ask, i always got time for family.

With love

Great responses!

I have a couple people that have been there for me already and little do they know but they have saved my life, And I couldn't have asked anything more from them.

This idea is for anyone that wants to use it. Anyone in need of advice or just needs someone to listen to them.

This community has come together so quickly and with all the support I could ask for in my situation. Ill have to make mention of my new 'family' soon to show appreciation.
I know who I am, and no one is going to tell me otherwise anymore.
