When googling my new name, a bunch of sites have a listing of the ad I placed when changing my name.  This is really upsetting because I wanted to put that name behind me, and now it's so easy for anyone I know to google my full name and find out about me unfairly.  I was thinking of changing my name again to a slight variation of it just so it would show that I changed my female name to another female name.  Can you have these websites remove this information about you?  It's really upsetting me lately and I'm scared to give out my name, especially to guys who are interested in me.  Thanks.

I can't think of anything that would be helpful in your case (other than trying to ask the newspaper to remove it from their website), but for others in the future here's some tips:

If you have a choice of newspapers, before deciding which one to run your notice in, search the paper's site using terms like "name change" and "change of name" to see if they publish such notices online. This doesn't guarantee that they won't publish old notices in the future (which has happened in a few cases), but at least for now if you choose a paper that doesn't that will help.

Beware of choosing a really unusual name (especially if both the first and last names are). If your name combo is at least moderately common among the general population, it will most likely stay off of page 1 of results (probably behind thousands of others).

Yikes, how frustrating!

I'm not sure how to help you, unfortunately, but for others (at least in the US) who are worried about the same thing happening: some states (mine at least) offer a 'sealed-record' option when you file for a name change with your local court. It's to protect you if you think the public ad might endanger you in any way, and it's the standard way for trans folks in my town to go about the name change process.

It keeps the whole thing private, and you become the only person with the authority to let others know about your name change. It also speeds up the process since you don't have to wait for the publication to run.
