I thought I would share a recent positive experience to cancel out the recent bad stuff.

Yesterday I went to a coffee shop down the street from where I work with two (female) coworkers.  As we were walking back to our coworking clubhouse, one girl turned to the other and asked "Are you that ladies night thing?".  After getting an answer, she then turned to me and said "What about you, are you going?"  (Keep in mind that I'm still working in "boy mode").  I froze up.  We were just about to walk into a room full of people and the only thing I could think to say was "I've only been on hormones for two weeks".  I spent the rest of the afternoon replaying the scene in my head.

Later yesterday evening I sent her a Facebook message explaining what had happened.  She was happy that I shared with her and suggested that we get lunch!  So we had a great conversation over lunch this afternoon.  We talked about everything from Doctor Who to walking in high heels.  Overall, she is really supportive and is excited to help me learn more about hair styling and makeup.  It's great to have another supporter! :D

Of course I'm sane.  When trees start talking to me, I don't talk back.

Not a whole lot.  Emotions may feel a tad bit easier to get to, but that might also be wishful thinking.  Nipples may have also grown a little bit, I don't remember body hair trying to grow in there before...

Hello Anna,

Congratulations on the hormones, Give it time you will feel very different, I have that's for sure. And as for you sharing you experience with I coworker I am proud of you that is a hard step to do but one that is very rewarding once it is done. I came out of the closet a little different at work but essentially the same. I will share that experience with you.

One Friday night I was sitting talking to my boss. The last thing that my boss told me before I left that evening was you need to just come out so that you are happy. I thought about her words all night. I even talked with my two best friends about it. The decision was made. the following morning we had a mandatory staff meeting. I do not work Saturdays but had to be there. I sent my boss a text message and told her to make some time for me in the meeting. I showed up to the meeting in a black dress, with black kitten heels. Also I had done my make up. At the meeting I stood up in front of almost 100 employees and introduced myself as Katie. I explained to my coworkers exactly what I was doing. I now go to work as a female everyday. I am on hormones and my name has been legally changes to Katie.

I know coming out at work is very hard, why I chose to do it the way I did was because I had my bosses support. People look at me differently but for the most part my coworkers treat me with respect. I do hop this made you smile a little. I wish you the best in your transition.

sincerely
Katie

:D:D  It definitely feel great to be accepted.  My friend even thinks the rest of our coworkers will be accepting once I'm ready.

Awesome story, Katie.  I'm happy to hear how nicely your experience turned out!  I think I'd be terrified of talking to a room of 100 people, but that's probably something I could build my way up to.  Thank you for sharing your story :)

I'm going to revise my answer.  I talked with my therapist this morning and she commented that my skin looks a little different.  I haven't noticed, but I haven't done a side-by-side comparison of pictures from two weeks ago and today. :)

Congrats you deserved something good to happen. My friend made a similar comment a couple of weeks ago about my skin(face) don't see it though although my forearms do feel a little different.
