What Ta Do With Facial Hair?

Is it just me, or does facial hair and shaving seem way more complicated, confusing, and annoying than it was ever intended to be? Show of hands?

I've got a face....it's not the chiseled angular face that some people have. It's chubby, round, squishy and mine (it's the only one I have!). I generally don't shave my face, or will shave certain parts as opposed to shaving my entire face. Some times I trim, sometimes I leave it be. Now, my thing is that I have no idea what is considered generally acceptable styles of facial hair when you're in this stage of facial hair growth. Having no facial hair can cause difficulty passing for some people, but what's generally accepted as okay?

Anyways...I came up with this thread idea because I looked at my own facial hair. My sideburns are getting kinda long but the hair is very thin (in terms of hare thickness and being sparse) and it sticks out from my face instead of laying somewhat flat.

What are your facial hair dreams? Do you want to be Grizzly Adams? John Waters? Amos Mac? Burt Reynolds? Brian Wilson? Some other person with well known facial hair?

I've seen guys with similiar amount of facial hair just keep it trimmed with some scissors (like my husband would). I think having it poofy is okay, but it brings out the other parts of your face without as much facial hair. I think having it kept trimmed would still make it visible but keep it neater looking.

My electric Remington trimmer has become my best facial hair friend. It's a lot easier and more precise than using scissors. Just snap a guard on it and trim up what I want to keep. Snap the guard off and trim everything else down to stubble so it's easier to get a razor through. Wet shave with cream and I'm done.

My dream facial hair? Never really thought about it. I just want my soul patch to fill in (getting there slowly). I like a little bit o' burns, a billy goat goatee, and a soul patch.

I would trim the sideburns, the poofy may be visually adding width to your face. But if you like them, keep them! Hugs, Devlyn

I'd trim the sideburns but its up to you. I' just like to have some stubble like patrick dempsey or some scruff on my jawline but i know my boyfriend wouldnt like that. Unfortunately, i'll be stuck with my teenage patchy beard for a while.

I keep mine trimmed at 6-8mm length, and shave the lower part of my neck and clean up the strays on my cheeks with a wet shave. I like the facial hair I have - shapewise. It still needs to fill out a bit more, especially the stache.

If it were me I'd probably trim the side burns a tad too. Now that my i'm growing in hair up my jawline and cheeks (12 yrs later lol) I plan to take a trimmer and keep it all the same length and as everything reaches the same length I'll set the trimmer to a longer cut and use it till everything reaches that length.

My facial hair dream would be non patchy 5 o clock shadow. You know the type that looks kinda dirty and rugged? I'm not sure how well I could pull it off though with a shaven head.

I dream of better sideburns.   I don't know about facial hair.   My beard hair is white,  so I don't know how  a white beard would look on a young dude.  Perhaps it will change color on T.

If it's peach fuzz it'll likely change color, if not no worries, a white beard on a young guy looks great if properly groomed.

I was lucky appreciable facial hair did not appear until about five years ago (age 39) where now it comes thick and fast and it's dark too where it's not white, the white hairs being the toughest where they briefly red. I have for the last five years been using a cut throat razor because I abhor the cost and waste of the multi bladed swivelling things that don't last with my hair because it's tough.

But since I have been full body shaving I have discovered with care the body shaver makes a better job of shaving facial hair that the cut throat, the body shaver is a Babyliss satin smooth lady shaver because hair is hair and femme shaving systems are cheaper than homme shaving systems and I don't have the money to waste on manly colours and names when essentially the mechanical parts are the same.

But I hate shaving my face and I hate beards as well and I have had them over the last few years where they make me look older and I am now at that age where I'd like to look younger and so am looking about for alternatives to shaving as what can be done to revert back to what I was in my thirties which was essentially baby faced.

But as an aside I have a clinical geneticist appointment coming up where I hope to get a complete endocrine workup, where once known I may be better informed as to what I can do to perhaps nail the beard growth.

Yeah, trimming sideburns is a good idea unless you have lots of hairs. Then you would look like a hippie.

If you're not overly worried about passing (i.e. you've got enough masculine features to tip the scales in favor of male) then clean-shaven is a good look to have, especially in a professional setting. But hey- facial hair can be cool too.

Nygeel, I'd say you could go either way, the hair looks perfectly fine on you. I should let my hair grow out a couple of days and maybe get a pic or two, it's pretty awkward and looks like a 14 year old trying so hard to grow facial hair and ending up looking like a jerk in the process XD
