Just like that song, I am wide awake, I see now the error and shameful way of thinking about my crossdressing and intersex and transgender brothers and sisters. I look at myself today compared to 3 years ago and I cannot fathom how I was ever in a place of a lack of education and a hard headed belief that my fundamental christian values were 100% correct. I am so thankful that I am no longer in a place of disgust or hatred for anything lgbtqqi

Not only have I done a 180 on how I believe, I am now one of you , one of those lgbt Christians, I still love God and follow Christ, but now I understand how scriptures have been misused and misinterpreted.

Thank The Lord Jesus for bringing me out of a place of hatred. I am so glad I no longer live there. It has been a 3 year journey to get to a place of acceptance. I will not look back and ever try to be a fundamental christian again. I am so amazed at the peace and warmness I feel now vs before.

God Bless and stay strong.

I am so happy for you Shawn, I see someone standing over your shoulder with a big smile on their face and a hand still ready to hold you up.  There is a great deal of beauty in the Christian Faith that you can begin to see, now that you are free to believe that you are not junk, and that you have a clear and wonderful place in the world, and a mission with those others of us in the Church who are also trans.  The Peace of The Lord be always with you!!

Who else??  Be careful though, Lucifer now aka Satan is still an angel the last I heard about it.

Congrats Shawn!  I'm so proud of you!  I'm curious though, what was the turning point where you finally became free of a lot of the fundamental beliefs?

Shawn,

It's been a longer and sometimes a painful process for me.  Somehow, being free to love God and humanity without all the baggage is something I cannot describe.

I never knew, inside, what this meant. "Peace, I leave with you, my peace I give to you: not as the world gives, give I to you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."  John, 14:27

And you know what?  I didn't find that peace in realizing I'm transgender, it came from seeing God's love, at work, in parts of the transgender community.

I'm glad you are here....
To move forward is to leave behind that which has become dear. It is a call into the wild, into becoming someone currently unknown to us. For most, it is a call too frightening and too challenging to heed. For some, it is a call to be more than we were capable of being, both now and in the future.

Those who come to understand 'Judge not lest ye be judged' come to realize that Christ's second commandment to love your neighbor as yourself just means to practice unconditional love. Yes, it is very freeing.

Congrats.

Amen, and Amen, Shawn! I am very happy for you! Remember that charity is the pure love of Christ, and thus spiritual love for others. Without charity, we are nothing. I pray and hope that you will continue on this journey to be more and more like Christ.

"All you who have been baptized in Christ's name have put on the person of Christ; no more Jew or Gentile, no more slave and freeman, no more male and female; you are all one person in Jesus Christ. And if you belong to Christ, then you are indeed Abraham's children; the promised inheritance is yours."
-- Galatians 3:27-29 (KNOX)

God bless! :)

I'm an atheist and don't want to misrepresent that or be intrusive, but I was a christian for a very long time and spent many years considering myself an abomination and people like me a poisonous element of society. I prayed and agonized and tried to learn to like women and be good and straight and normal. I didn't know what trans was so I thought my having a vagina was god's punishment for my being gay and liking men. It was weird but everyone around me was very straight and rural and conservative. I just trusted blindly and didn't realize for a long time that it's more complicated than that, and the bible can be interpreted in all kinds of ways by different people.

Be well. There's nothing wrong with you. No god is going to hate on you for qualities intrinsic to your being.
