But I want to tell you of some positive — or at least semi-positive — developments out there.
The National Transgender Advocacy Coalition's Transgender Lobby Week recently finished up. I've attended the lobby week before and found it to be a potent event. There is something to be said for going to the offices of our congressional leaders and letting them see, face to face, just what a transgender person really is. It's far better than letting the religious right tell them who or what we are, for sure. It also is a way of reinforcing for ourselves that, yes, we are a part of this country and we do deserve to be heard.
