Is this normal? (tri-top binder)

I just got a tri-top binder from Underworks.  The compression seems to be okay or at least as good as my other binder, which isn't amazing, but better than nothing.

The problem is that the bottom of it sticks out away from my skin.  It's not too noticeable under a shirt, but you can definitely see it if you look.  It's like a skirt for my boobs... speaking of them... it hurt the crap out of my nipples!  The fabric is so abrasive.  I think next time I put it on I'll have to tape my nipples first or something.  I mean... I could wear a shirt underneath, and I'll probably have to, but since I got it to be less hot in, that kind of makes me sad.

I took a picture but am having a hard time getting it off my phone.  I'll post it once it actually gets to my computer

Here's the picture... it obviously doesn't flatten me out very well, either.  I'll have to try a different way of stuffing them in there.

It might be a little too big for you. Mine fits pretty snugly, though I've found that the tri-top doesn't work that well for me due to bulges in weird places, so I prefer my compression tank.

The nipple thing bothers me when I'm putting it on (but not as much when I'm just wearing it). I stick my hand in the top to adjust for "pecs", and I always make sure to wedge my hand between the nipple and the fabric so it doesn't get pinched/scraped.

Thanks for the reply.  I got the size that went with my inches, actually, I was on the larger end of the inches that this binder was for, so if it's too big for me, then their sizing guide is messed up, and I'd also hate to get a smaller size because I feel a ton of rib compression...

after a bit of messing around with it, I found a better way to situate myself than in this picture.  I didn't mess with it as much when I took the picture because I wanted to get it off asap... for the sake of my nipples.  I put it back on with a shirt underneath later, and fixed my chest, but once I was done, my nipples still hurt from scraping them the first time.  Next time I put it on I'll have to be a lot more careful to cover them while pulling it on.  I'd only had one binder before, but the material was much softer, so I hadn't even though of it.  It did look a lot better when I tried the second time, but that little hanging part was still there, and I'm not sure if I should try to do something with it or what

Mine did that too because my chest was large.

I had the right size Tritop and this happened with mine too.

Good to know it's not defective or something.  I'm happier with it now that I've gotten it to look good under clothes, it just seemed really weird that it would hang down like that instead of be tight there, too.  I definitely wasn't expecting that

My nipples hurt too sometimes when I wore this! It stuck out after a while of not washing it. It a
Was also worn out after a few months as it would stick out and wouldn't return to its original shape. I went for the full length one after and it seems to be the one for me, maybe try that if you can?

I actually already had a full length one (underworks 997) which feels fine, but it doesn't seem to bind as well as it used to... maybe I'm just getting used to it?  I still use it a lot, just wanted to try the tri-top since a lot of people give it good reviews and since summer is coming up.

I have some tri-tops too and I think the way they hang off the bottom like that is stupid! I can't tell what they were thinking designing it that way.  What I do is sort of fold the bottom up under my moobs and that seems to even it all out.

Thinking of getting somebody to hem it up, maybe that'll help??

I don't have this problem, but I wonder if something like a  muscle shirt or gynecomastia shirt over (or under) this would help?

Mine flared like that too. I didn't bind that long, but I heard if you press your 'moobs' (or whatever term you prefer) downward it helps the binding. I didn't like doing that and always pushed them up and out which was more comfortable for me but probably didn't help the binding factor. Looks like you may be doing that in the pic.

In the picture they're kind of out and down, but I feel like up and out works better for me.  At least, that's what I've been doing, and I think it turns out better than this picture did... only problem is having the lumps in your armpits... but I suppose no one can see that under a shirt?

Mine did that too. I fixed it by undoing the seams, cutting a V into the sides, and sewing it back together.

It now looks like this (the seam is sloppy because I hand sewed it and I didn't have a table/desk to work on):

It's still comfortable, easy to put on, and the seam is still wicked strong.
