California 'bathroom bill' allows gender identity to determine bathroom use and would allow boys to join the girl team sports

The California State legislature is considering a bill that would allow public school children to use bathrooms based on gender identity not on their biological gender.

Assembly Bill 1266, was introduced by Assemblyman Tom Ammiano (D-San Francisco) and would allow students to use bathrooms designated for the opposite sex if their gender identity allowed.

The legislation aims to deal with students who are born male or female but"identify" with the opposite gender of their birth.

From http://legiscan.com/CA/bill/AB1266 - it looks like it passed the assembly on 5/9/13 - now it's to the education committee in the Senate (assigned yesterday).  Hopefully they move relatively quick on it.
