On Tuesday the New York state Assembly approved GENDA, the transgender rights bill, for the sixth time. But not before openly gay Assemblyman Daniel O'Donnell delivered an epic rant against the idiots who characterized the item as a "bathroom bill."  O'Donnell: "Spare me your lectures about G-- D--- bathrooms!"

That was good, it's nice to see someone give a passionate speech nowadays.

Wow, really? I went back and watched it a second time after reading your comment and I didn't see anything like that.

Do you really think he imagines people will vote for him because he cares about trans people getting beat up? I mean we're what, like 0.2% of the population, right?

I know this is getting off topic, but isn't that an awfully wide blanket statement covering hundreds of thousands of elected officials nationwide? Are you sure ALL of them are dishonest?

All politicians talk out both sides of their mouth. They always have and always will as long as it serves them. A vote is a vote all the same no matter how small the voting block may be.

Really?  The guy all but commits political suicide by trying to support basic human rights for trans people and you crap on him.  That's the way to take the high road.

This has got nothing to do with pandering for votes, but a politician acting in response to a letter from someone who he represents and doing something about it.

This is exactly how politics works, especially local politics where politicians are elected on what they do for people. These people work especially hard to get things done for people.

I think stuff like this needs to be applauded, because at the end of the day if it wasn't for politicians like him you wouldn't have any of the rights or legal protections which you, me and everyone else takes for granted.

I think this man was being passionate, I think he agrees and really believes in what he said. On the other hand, I agree with Miss Bungle. Politicians, ALL politicians are worthless, petty, uninformed, money motivated, scumbag, fu&%wits! My personal opinion about politicians generally speaking is that if ever the United States had a natural disaster of epic proportions, I would hope that it happens while Capitol Hill is in session and our entire congress just ceases to exist. Could nature ever smile on us like that? Could we ever get that lucky?
