Hi there!
A word about Dr. Cardenas:
He is a very talented, artful plastic surgeon, that will soften your look...NOT TRANSFORM you completely. That is called the Witness Protection Program! lol! He's starting to do more aggressive surgery to the face..(forehead) now, than he used to. (that is an option) Everyone I've met or seen that has had him for FFS has been very complimentary work! Each person, uniquely different. He's not a 'cookie cutter' surgeon, as some are..where all the girls look similar.
Cost:
If you go to
WWW.TransOp.com, he has the pricelist and packages available. It's at LEAST half of what you'll pay in the states, for sure!
Guadalajara is their medical 'capital', where most of the colleges are, etc.. It's not the picture of Tijuana, that may be in your head.
If you must have pristine hallways, and the no personality facilities like our hospitals..don't go here.
Overall, the work is good...lodging adequate...and food is GOOD. They pick you up at the airport, get you settled. Then you have a personal meeting with Dr. Cardenas, discussing whats going to happen. You usually spend one evening at the clinic, after surgery. (depending on the severity of the surgery), then back to the recovery center (townhouse) for the remainder of your stay. They take you to any scheduled follow up appointments, and finally back to the airport to get back home.
The only drawback that I found is that the 'aftercare' is very limited, especially after you go back home. So, even though THEY should be telling you everything you need to know about recovery, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND ASK QUESTIONS! I think they need to improve in this area. ANYTIME you have to travel anywhere for surgery, there can be drawbacks! Possible complications, travel, time off work, etc..
Remember, this is a clinic! Dr. Cardenas trains advanced students that he has hand-picked from the local medical schools in the area(2 per year). They will be assisting with the work, and sometimes do the entire procedure...but under his watchful eye, of course.
Good luck, and happy hunting!
