Pretty straight forward on this one. I was talking with my little sister (half sister) she has never seen my natural eye color as I wear brown or black contact lenses always. She feels its cheating because it hides the fact that I'm mixed. Her skin is so light she can't hide it. Is it wrong to hide this considering how much of an issue that African Americans in the south have an issue with this whole mixed thing?
P.s. I only started hiding this when I started getting so much crap about not being pure blood or whatever the heck that means?

Tristan you shouldn't have to hide your eye color too make other people happy. I don't Know about any of this pure blood stuff but I highly doubt anybody's heritage is as pure as they believe it to be. Be proud of who you are and your heritage and don't let anybody tell you there is something wrong with you. So showoff those eyes girl and be proud of them! :)

Well, there are very few "pure" wizarding families left.  Most have a muggle ancestor at some point, and same people that-must-not-be-named really don't like it.

To be serious, I don't think you should have to hide your eye color.  Some people might not notice and others might think it's cool or exotic.

Sorry, the muggle thing?  I don't know that term.

A muggle is a non-wizard: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muggle.  Heather mentioned "pure blood"  and my brain went to Harry Potter.

Love the name Julia.  Isn't that the name of one of the characters in that grindhouse movie with Kurt Russell?

Yup, the badass one LOL. Love it!

This thread reminds me of The Golden Girls episode where Blanche Devereaux discovered she is 1/8 yankee (not to mention Jewish) and not pure Southern as required by the stupid club she tried to get into. In the end, with a little help and encouragement from Dorothy, Rose and Sophia, she realized it's discriminating and stupid and she is still a real Southern Belle despite her mixed heritage :)

This kinda reminds me of this girl I knew in college. She's Mexican but is white, blond hair and blue eyes and not albino. Silly genes. I always thought she was really pretty. In my experience with her, she always seemed to be a very glowing personality that made people overcome their complaints. From seeing you around on here, you seem like a pretty awesome person too. Definitely your choice, but I'd say let the eyes shine bright and let your personality carry the rest =)

it odes but its but its rare a doctor will do it because its dangerous to stain the eyes to make them both brown. I have been back in my mommys town now for only like an hour and already my instinct is to hide and put the contacts back in. idk why i get like this. its pretty pathetic to be honest

Sweetie, please don't do this. I can't relate to the racial factors you're dealing with, but your natural eye color is yours and special. Don't hide it or who you are.

IDK now that im back at my mommys place i think i should leave it up to her. im supposed to be able to please the people around me and be obedient and lately i have not been doing such a good job at that. after all she has come up with good ideas before like the skin creams that darken your skin some. you ave to put them on every few days or my skin goes back to normal which at some point when everyone thinks im ready i will stop using it. idk maybe the dye for my eyes is a good thing? im not really sure i should be making the decision on it or if its good since i make such poor choices. if it will help i think i might be ok with it?

The whole thing is kinda sad, but the bold bit really gave me a WTF? moment. You are an adult and as such are able to make your own choices - you are also responsible for them. Here's a tip from someone who's lived a little, not all the choices you make in life are good ones, you learn from them and move on.

I'm not going to get in to the 'racial purity' discussion, that's simply so ridiculous it makes me head want to explode. As for the ' im supposed to be able to please the people around me and be obedient' bit, really? Why? The only person I have to please is myself. And I'm generally obedient of the law, but only as far as it doesn't impact my choices in life.

Tristan,
Without prying... Don't answer if you prefer not to... What do your eyes look like? Don't post a pic, just tell us? Are they 2 different colors... Is the left is a different color than the right? Or do you have an eye color not prevalent to those of your ethnic background, but both the same color?

Just wondering?

I used to date an Argentinian girl with natural light blonde hair, blue eyes, dark olive skin and she spoke fluent Spanish as her first language. Many Germans went to Argentina after WWII... Hence the genetic traits.

oh yeah i know all about the history of that country.
one eye is light blue to gray and the other is gray. people tend to think my eyes look gross or that i  have some sort of disease. people ask me about it normally in public in not nice ways. and today the place i checked into the staff was ok because they are medical and understand but the other residents and some of there family members of course were not ok with me. one African American family even avoided me because they said they didnt want to catch anything

People can be very ignorant. 2 of my close female friends have bi-colored eyes. One is because of her heritage... The other is a due to a genetic condition. I never personally noticed until they mentioned it to me. I'm not that astute when it come to eyes i suppose. People tend to notice the most inconsequential things sometimes.

Honestly I wouldn't get surgery for something like that, but it's your call. Do it for you... Not to appease the a-holes though.

Yeah I know I should be able to brush this off but in not very good at that. I think this fall I might just get the surgery because I really don't like not being normal and getting called out for it

I think many of us here can relate to that. I know I can.
