Here's the third and final part of a survey I started a few months ago (the second part is
here, the first
here). Remember to the mods as I said before - I am not seeking information to identify individuals but rather for statistical purposes only. Also even though my post count is technically too low for posting links, I hope you don't mind the links to the tools to assist you if necessary; if that's a problem you can delete this topic or edit the links out. This part deals with the popularity of your chosen name; there are two questions being asked. This poll is mainly targeted at our U.S. members (who can use sources like the
SSA's list and tools like
this) to accurately see where their name stands, but if you have similar stats available (or know where your name generally stands) from your country you can participate too. As with the last round vote only if you've at least made a "final" decision for your name; if you're still deciding then please abstain from voting.
Your first vote should go to the choice asking where your chosen name ranked for your year of birth (Top 20, 21-100, 101-1,000, or >1,000). Your second vote should go to the statement that best describes when your chosen name peaked (i.e. most common for roughly your generation*, most common on an older generation that yours**, most common on a younger generation than yours***, the name peaked for an older generation and has since been revived for a younger generation****, or the name has no strong generational associations respectively either because it's been fairly consistently popular or has never been common enough to be a "typical" name for a particular age group*****).
Examples of each in relation to a female of my age (born in the 1980s) are (so you can get an idea of what I'm asking):
*Nicole (peaked around that time)
**Linda (peaked at an earlier time)
***Olivia (peaked at a later time)
****Lillian (peaked earlier and has since been revived)
*****Elizabeth (consistently popular) or Daphne (never very popular)
Of course answer in relation to
your birth year, so if you're a baby boomer (for example) Nicole would be in the third group rather than the first, and Linda would be in the first group rather than the second.
