Don't worry the neck hair will be some of the first to go. Next time around it will be half as painful. After 2 sessions basically all of my neck was clear after the shedding was done. Just wait until they start increasing the laser intensity though Then everything starts to hurt! For me at first it was the neck too, then the sides of the goatee area. Now all that's left for me after 3 sessions are a few small patches on the chin & still quite a few on the upper lip. That is going to hurt next time.

Happy to report I have experienced NO regrowth at all... My doc is kinda shocked, I am ecstatic. Hopefully this means I will have less laser sessions than they thought. Glad I went for a smaller package to start with

For the first 3 sessions, my doc had me spaced at 4 week intervals, this one in between session three and four is a 6 week period. Cannot. Freakin. Wait.

Happily though I finally found a way that works to me to hide the stubble for the time being.

4th laser session DONE!

It's really starting to show improvement now, i was up to level 24 on the face and 22 on the upper lip. Hair on cheeks & neck: GONE! Upper lip beard shadow already minimal, so very eager to see how much sheds in a week or two!! I can see my skin!!!

Lasers and smiles, they go hand in hand I've been in the best of moods all night.

I had my 2nd laser treatment 2 weeks ago. The first time really hurt bad, I hardly could stay in the chair, but now the second time there was no pain anymore, as the first treatment really killed most of the facial hair.

Now after the second treatment, my face is nearly completely smooth and I am happy 

There are still hair growing here and there, but I think one or two additionall laser treatments will be sufficient for me now. The nurse was also surprised how complete the hair loss was with just one treatment. Then there are those white hairs, which the laser wont kill

The first treatment session had a funny incidense. The nurse was halfway through treating my face, when she asked: "You do understand, that this treatment will kill the hair for good and it doesn't grow back?".

Thanks for sharing your hair stories.  I had a beard forever and hated shaving but nothing says "man" like a beard and it was high on my list for removal.  Now on HRT and having had a single laser treatment I am delighted with the slow regrowth and reduction in 5 o'clock shadow.  It is much easier to feel pretty without it!  Laser does sting and those lightning flashes that I "see" in my head are a pretty interesting show.  I too opted for the topical anesthetic and highly recommend it do reduce that "flinching" every burst.  There are something like 30,000 hairs on our face so laser is good choice for most of us.
It is a big and relatively permanent step and no more growing and playing with a mustache and beard an easy choice for me to appear any more feminine.

After several postponements and false starts I finally had my first laser session yesterday, phew! Like Tessa James I felt the sting of the laser (and saw the light show inside my eyelids!) but I didn't have any numbing anesthetic and it was totally tolerable. The technician said I was the first person not to flinch whilst having the face done. So far no redness or pain afterward just a warm glow inside knowing that I'm on the way to a smooth clear hair free complexion at last. Smiling all the way to work today

I just had my third treatment today.  She used a different laser this time with a wider area and OMG it freakin' hurt so bad.  I still have some patches of facial hair under the chin area and upper lip area.  Hopefully in a few weeks the hair will fall out from this 3rd treatment.  I still have 2 more treatments left in this package so I'm not too worried.  I hopefully start HRT in July so maybe that will help with the hair too.

3rd time behind for me too. This time it hurt badly, but that's good, as it means that the hairs are dying

The nurse even said, that after this treatment, most hairs are gone and there should be a visible change.

About to head in for round 6, the last one I have paid for.

I had pretty significant regrowth on my upper lip and chin which is a bummer, but hopefully it's gone (a lot more of it at least) for good this time.

I might start using my Tria laser a couple of weeks after and on keep it on a two week schedule. I've only used it on my chest so far.

Hi just looking for a bit of advice - I'm going for my laser test on Tuesday, I'm in the UK and the lady told me I only need 6 treatments to remove my upper lip hair - does this sound right? My moustache area is the worst on my face, very dense and thick hair... I pluck and tweeze the hair out but regrowth has been about the same it's always been...

At £180 I can't really afford to have anymore done at the moment but this makes the most upset - seeing that shadow over my make-up is really bringing me down... I use facial hair remover cream on the rest of my hair and then shave what little is left, it leaves me smooth for a few days before haiving to repeat the process.

Does it hurt really bad? I'm very sensitive - just a few weeks back I burnt my face with the remover cream... I applied way too many times, then put Savlon ontop... it stung like a bitch! 

It's thankfully all cleared up now though, my face feels fine otherwise. Any help would be appretiated

Yeah it's going to hurt like a mother. The upper lip is in my opinion the most sensitive part. It was the most dense for me there, too.

If they are thinking they will clear it in just 6 sessions that probably means they are going to run the laser pretty hot- so be sure to apply a generous amount of the numbing cream they supply and then try to seriously just think about something else / keep your mind off of the laser and bear through it!

Maybe they have the new one that blasts CO2 though, supposedly it's a lot less painful. You should probably find out what kind of laser it is. If you have dark hair and light skin, diode is what you want.

I checked and they use the Ellipse I²PL system - it says on the salons website it's "the most effective hair removal system in use today"

Yeah I thought it'd be sore... god I don't know if I can take the pain lol!

There's comments from some of the people who have been and they say it's amazing, no stubble or re-growth at all! And the pictures really do it justice too - which is why I chose this salon. The lady seems very friendly and helpful so I hope things work out ok and I can go back there if I make it through Tuesday to have other areas done. Here's hoping the 6 sessions are enough for my lip *crosses fingers*

Well I hate to say it, but I figure I should warn you... IPL isn't good... it doesn't go deep enough to get to the deep root of male beard hair. IPL is not even actually a laser- it stands for intense pulsed light. It has it's own set of benefits, but not when it comes to removing male type facial hair.

Diode Lasers, like Alexandrite or LightSheer, are the clear winners for this job. The roots we need to get at are too deep for IPL. They need a more focused and very high wavelength in order to be treated successfully.

I hope you haven't paid anything non-refundable, because I would REALLY recommend going to a place with a diode laser. Otherwise I can almost guarantee you'll be wasting your money!!

Maybe someone else here has done IPL with a good outcome, but I haven't read a single good thing about it online for this specific task. Generally not recommended!

What really?!

I was sure ILP would be ok, but the six session's started alarm bells ringing in my head... seems like others have to go for way more then that... I'm dissapointed for sure.

But then again I'd rather not waste my money, the booklet for the site says it's only a 5 minute treatment for upper lip hair... that got me alittle worried too. Guess I'll have to cancel my appointment & look at another salon - maybe Glasgow or Edinburgh will have the them...

Thank you so much for replying Jenny - to think I'd probably waste my money and be happy for like a month then have the hair grow back... that would be devastating
