Well this didn't take long: http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Hollywood/2013/05/28/Children-network-transsexual-superhero

I signed up and commented:

I am a little bit disturbed by all the invective here. First of all, the cartoon is not about transsexuals or transgenders. It is about a boy who made the mistake of putting on a superheroine ring. It has already been shown in Australia. You can find episodes on the net. It is not what the author of the article makes it out to be. If you disapprove of the cartoon, don't let your kids watch it - pretty simple.

I'm not MTF, so perhaps my take on this is slightly different than someone who is, but I don't find it as the worst show in the world. Does it irritate me that so often MTFs are exploited as nothing more than humor gags in cartoons and television shows? Absolutely. Would I love to watch a show like this where the main character actually had legitimate transgender feelings (such as one where a transgirl who has yet to come out has the opportunity to be a superhero who is clearly read as female, allowing her to be who she is until she is able to come out)?  YES! And that made me hope that someday, there is one. I don't appreciate the use of humor at transgender expense, but I personally wouldn't mind using it to explain my situation to my nephew if he were familiar with the show. (I've yet to come out to him and I am waiting to do so until after I've begun hormones, at my sister's request.)

Lol @ pervert their children..

per·vert  (pr-vûrt)
1. To cause to turn away from what is right, proper, or good; corrupt.

Based on their comments i'd say their kids already get enough perversion from their parents at home.
"For transpeople, using the right pronoun is NOT simply a 'political correctness' issue. It's core to the entire struggle transpeople go through. Using the wrong pronoun means 'I don't recognize you as who you are.' It means 'I think you're confused, delusional, or mentally I'll.'. It means 'you're not important enough for me to acknowledge your struggle.'"

Good point.

Just like the argument I always heard about "the media makes kids learn swearwords". This obviously was never the case. You know where I learned to swear?

From my dad.

So after reading the comments on that site, my original opinion stands, nothing but bad, bad, bad news for us and will only open us to more ridicule and possibly increased risk for aggression from parents who feel we are "pushing the homosexual addenda on there kids in an attempt to" blah blah blah blah we all herd the rest all ready. Other countries may be more friendly and more open to the show, but most of the US.sadly isn't.

The haters are going to hate, what's the alternative, hide, keep quiet? we wont get anywhere that way.  The Blacks went through it, the gays went trough it, the hate is the strongest when they are loosing the argument. But the more people exposed to the idea that crossing gender lines is no big deal, then that is a step in the right direction and eventually the mainstream will become desensitised and bored and the haters will finally shut up when they no longer have the ear of the majority.

Plus, children can be quite persuasive in changing parents ideas

Most of the time the haters aren't even the majority...it's just that the people in between ignoring the hate and propagating it...well they usually choose to spread the hate first because it makes then feel good.

The mentality goes something like "If I'm suffering, all of you freaks should have to suffer as well!".

Could we not make collectives out of groups, eg. The Blacks, The Gays, The Jews, Etc.

It dehumanizes groups of people when you lump them all together as an amorphous blob under one label...that would be like calling us "The Transgenders".

No, It's gay people, transgender people, black people, Jewish people...etc.

Other than that...what your saying will eventually happen...it's just our responsibility as transgender people to keep educating people by being out and talking a little bit about it. If you can't be out for safety reasons...that's understandable. But there is no way were going to break the stereotypes if we are invisible. I am in no way saying that you have to tell every person you meet "Im Transgender", just if the opportunity arises.

Would you take a look at those comments? Hundreds of people (I'm counting all the likes per comment too) are using this show as an excuse to attack trans people.

People can say that Shezow isn't transsexual all they want, doesn't mean that he won't be *perceived* as transsexual.

Even if the show didn't exist, they'd comment on something else anyways.

People need a scapegoat for all of their pain, suffering, and issues. Rather than dealing with their own crap, they would rather throw their hatred and ignorance at anything that looks vulnerable.

I dub thee masses...sheeple!

Yeah, its the crowd mentality, I notice if there is an online newspaper article and if the first comments are positive then it will likely end up as a minor derailment, but if the haters get in first then it usually ends up a total train wreck

Yeah sorry I was uneasy using those terms but figured as I wasn't attaching any hate to their use I may be ok, I kind of figured we all knew we weren't talking about cats but your right it sounds better your way, I would edit, but as its quoted now it seems moot.

It's all good, I just figured I would point it out. I didn't think you intended to use it in a negative way. :)

Just now saw this ! My fav "AlexJones Channel" gave this a positive review overall and the comments listed were nominally accepting, 'mixed' at worst !!

I 'ave been "OUT" on another very popular predominately "hetero male" forum (spend more time there than here) and, if serious 'bout being 'mainstream', have to learn to take the good with the bad.
"But it's no use now," thought poor Alice, "to pretend be two people!
"Why, there's hardly enough of me left to make one respectable person!"
