I had my second appointment with the gender specialist today (3 months after the first) and I have a confirmed diagnosis and a referral to the endocrinologist. I am officially a girl!

I am only slightly jumping around like a mad thing.

I thought I ought to update the thread to say tomorrow is the day when I see the endocrinologist.   Given this is being done through the NHS I think a 2 month interval may be a record.

Just in case anyone else in the UK is taking the same route I will share a bit of what I learned. The referral letter from the specialists secretary disappeared somewhere en route to the endocrinologist's secretary. I found this after making polite enquiries with both secretaries. The specialists secretary faxed (!) tye referral to the endocrinologist's secretary who told me to call back if I hadn't received a letter by the first week in August. I hadn't so I rang back and found out that a booking had not been made so one was made for a little under a week in the future. I feel that remaining calm and polite throughout smoothed the way a bit and would like urge anyone else in a similar situation to do likewise. In any large organisation things go astray and the person you are talking to is very unlikely to have had any say in the processes that caused it. You need to get paid a lot of money before you are allowed to invent lacklustre processes
