"Draw My Life" - Trans* edition

Have you heard of those Youtube videos? The ones where people actually draw their life out? It's usually less than 15 minutes but people pretty much just talk about a summary of their life from birth to the "now" or at least how they got to a certain point in their lives. It's also narrated by the artist/author because it allows you to do not-so-detailed "scenes" and be able to cut down the needed video time. People often used a small dry erase board to aid in quicker sketches.

I saw a few awhile back and it made me consider doing one myself. It doesn't have to be crazy detailed or talk about really graphic things, just how I came to the point in my life where I realized I'm moving forward with transitioning. So, people of Susan's, would you do it? Even if it was a personal video to see how far you've come or maybe to see how much your perspective has changed over time?

Right now, no, but when I'm at a point I'm more happy with myself, and can look back with a smile on my face, yes I would. Given that my incredible lazyness doesn't stop me, that is.

I haven't done one, but I love this concept. One of my fav YT hair/Makeup experts, Cherry Dollface (a g-lady, actually) did a wonderful one awhile back. If you've never caught one or two of Cherry's vids, it's worth it. She's a very cool lady.

I do agree that it would probably be best to not do it when you don't feel completely comfortable with yourself or maybe if you aren't completely "over" everything. It can really shadow your perception and make it more emotionally difficult to spill such intimate details of your life.

I guess, to me, it would be a big confidence boaster and even let me practice my "new" voice. I also love to talk and doodle so it's a win for me.

Any other opinions?

But I really want to make something out of my life in order for it to be interesting.

It's pretty simple, really. You just point your camera at a white board and start drawing out cute illustrations as you tell your life story. Google "draw my life" or "draw your life" for examples. My link to Cherry's (above) demonstrates it well, too.

Pretty much this. I think I once watched one with pre-drawn pictures but I prefer the author/artist doing it as they are narrating. Often, the footage is sped up a tad to keep it quick and prevent people from getting too bored. I mostly watch videos by gamers so these might not be your taste, if you are not into that sort of thing, but here's a couple I know of: and

Usually the drawings are simple stick figures with a few details as well as some other things. (Like "effects", other people, building, backgrounds, ect.)

Yes. By all means if you do one of these do the drawing process on camera-- even if you've got the drawing skills of a 5 year old. Video is a moving medium and people respond best to action on camera. The more you do the better. If it takes a long time you can always speed it up later.
