I was on the forum a while back inquiring about prosthetics and which to purchase. Haven't been on here much since, as I did some of my own research and ordered a product soon after that. This was about the time that emisil had debuted its products. There seemed to be a lot of back and forth about whether the products were good, or whether to get a more well known product, such as the U.S. made reelmagik or the Australian made ftm prosthetic. My buddy and I were both looking to buy a prosthetic at the time...I decided to go with the 4.5" advanced model from reelmagik, and my buddy went with the flaccid 02 model with hair from emisil, both of which look fairly similar in photos on the respective websites. We ordered the products together so i was able to go through the ordering process for each product. Having access to both, I decided to do a review comparing the two in a fair manner. Keep in mind this is my personal opinion, and others may not agree. It's a bit long as we wanted to cover everything. I'll break it down by categories and score each based on my experience so far:
Cost:
-Emisil: $435.00 + shipping ($24)
-Reelmagik: $799.99 + shipping ($21)
Customer service:
- Emisil: Pretty good...we sent an email asking about things such as the flex rod and sexual use. They got back to us within about a day. I don't think they speak English well...the response was pleasant and understandable but still was a bit rough around the edges. Some of the responses seemed a bit "canned", as if they were taken from something pre-written (which I'm sure has something to do with the language barrier). There is no visible phone number that we could find.
-Reelmagik: We sent similar questions to reelmagik, and they got back to us within about two hours. I'm sure it varies, but each time I have emailed them I seem to get a response very quickly. Their responses each time were much easier to understand, and seemed very genuine, yet professional. It seemed as though they took time to answer my questions thoroughly. They have a phone number on their website, and we spoke with someone 2 out of the 3 times we called (they have an answering service for when they are not in the office). They were very pleasant and helpful.
Winner: Tie (but leaning towards Reelmagik)
Purchasing:
-Emisil: Very easy to find what we wanted...they had a few more to choose from...not a bad thing but it did take longer to decide what to buy, easy to find skin tone and hair colors...purchasing was pretty smooth. They had a few options such as skin tone and whether or not to add pubic hair, all with large photos. Website was modern with some nice HTML features, such as sliding photos and galleries.
- Reelmagik: Once I entered their ftm store (they have a Halloween store as well) I found everything pretty easily. Their website is a bit more basic, but still easy to understand. A lot of their info is listed in the descriptions with links to things like their color charts. They had 3 models to choose from, each with different options on the high and low end. You could add or subtract options pretty easily. It took me a while to find their order production time page, until I realized there was a link to it directly next to the purchase button.
Winner: Tie (leaning towards emisil)
Production waiting period:
-Emisil: The product took 4 weeks to arrive once we placed the order...just over the 2-3 week estimate. They are a new company so I can only imagine their faster production time is due to the small amount of orders they have gotten so far.
-Reelmagik: It took just over 16 weeks to arrive once the order was placed...quite a bit longer than the emisil, but much sooner than the estimated 18-20 weeks we originally got in our confirmation email from reelmagik. Their long production time is apparently due to the high number of orders they have.
Winner (hands down): Emisil
Paint/coloration:
-Emisil: The coloration was ok...it has some detailing like veins and skin texture. It had some veins that were sculpted on the surface and were colored blue-green, but were a bit dark. The coloration was uneven in my opinion...parts were much too dark...the head was very dark red compared to the rest of the coloring. The scrotum on the other hand almost completely lacked color...it has no reds or details at all, almost as if they had forgotten to paint it. It wasn't bad, mind you, but it was lacking and seemed a bit unbalanced. It didn't match his skin tone as well either. They said we could send a photo of his skin and they would try to match it, but it wasn't quite the right tone. Also was a tad shiny...not like some I have seen, but still had an unnatural sheen to it.
-Reelmagik: Coloration was very well done. It had excellent details...larger blue-green veins that looked as though they were hidden just under the skin and very fine red-purple surface capillaries, light and dark textures, and freckling (which looked very real). There seemed to be many layered colors, which gave it a fantastic translucent look. They take the time to paint in the wrinkles to add depth, and the scrotum had an appropriate amount of red to it...looked very real. It had a very nice matte finish to it. The color matched my skin really well. I had asked them about sending a photo of my skin to match it, but they said that would not result in an accurate match. I inquired about having some samples sent to me...they agreed and sent me a few silicone skin samples (M4-M7 if I remember correctly). The samples were small flat circular pieces of silicone in different skin tones. They came through the regular mail about 2 weeks after ordering, and I have to say it worked very well.
Winner: Reelmagik
Skin texture:
-Emisil: Had some good wrinkling and texture on the scrotum. The rest of the shaft, besides some nicely sculpted veins, was pretty smooth, and had quite a few surface flaws. There were some small air bubbles, and a few small "dents". The edges of it were a bit "rough" and looked like they had been trimmed with a dull pair of scissors...not very professional looking in my opinion. The tab was a bit small, and also pretty thick. It would definitely stick out from the pubic area when glued on (unless you had the hair on it). The overall skin texture on it was ok.
-Reelmagik: Some nice wrinkling and skin folds on the scrotum that carried into the shaft. Didn't have as many sculpted veins, which would have been nice. The whole prosthetic had a beautiful fine skin texture sculpted into it, and it even carried up to the top of the tab. The edges on this were much nicer, rounded and smooth. The tab was sturdy but soft and thin enough to blend in nicely.
Winner: Tie (but leaning heavily towards reelmagik)
Feel:
Emisil: The emisil claims to have 3 skin layers. It was pretty soft on the outside and a bit firmer on the inside, and felt "squishy". If you were wearing it as a packer it would probably pass the grab test, but it wasn't anything super impressive...I expected it to be softer. The scrotum was also a letdown. They claim to have movable testicles, but the scrotum was pretty dense and was hard to squeeze. You could feel the testicles inside, but they didn't move much, and they were really big.
-Reelmagik: Impressive. I was pleasantly surprised when I first touched it. Reelmagik claims to have several layers of silicone to mimic real skin, and boy they are not lying. The outer layer has a thin foreskin-like silicone skin that you can actually grab and pull up off the shaft. Quite impressive...and the inside is pretty cool too. Not only can you feel the different layers, but you can feel strands of firmer silicone that run down the inside center of the shaft that mimic the veins and urethra...a really nice touch. Reelmagik also claims to have movable testicles...another home run for reelmagik. Their scrotum skin is super flexible and hangs very realistically, while 2 perfectly sized firmer silicone testicles float inside. I was able to move them freely, and it feels like they are floating in a gel of some sort. I had a cis male friend of mine feel them...his mouth dropped, and said they felt just like his own. Forget the grab test...anyone touching these bare handed would have trouble telling the difference.
Winner (hands down): Reelmagik
Hand-punched pubic hair:
-Emisil: Reminded me of troll hair, like the ones from those old pencil toppers. It was straight hair...didn't look as much like pubic hair. It was punched into the silicone and you could see that it looked like it was growing out of the silicone, but the edge was a bit hard...it didnt have a natural fade and it stopped just below the base of the shaft. Was a bit on the thin side...didn't cover the tab as well as he hoped. I think it would work well for Asian nationality, but not for many others.
-Reelmagik: Looked just like pubic hair. It was sorta curly and laid much nicer than the emisil hair...looked very natural. It is also punched into the silicone as individual hairs, and had a much more gradual edge that continued up onto the base of the shaft, and looked very natural. It was pretty thick and you couldn't see the tab once it was glued on. They include instructions on that as well. When I inquired about options for Asian nationality they said they do offer straight hair on request.
Winner: Reelmagik
Wearability:
-Emisil: We tried two types of silicone adhesive (hollister and reelmagik's) and got it to stay on for about 20 minutes before it fell off. The adhesive we got from reelmagik worked the best on it. The back of the emisil is flat and is also another "rough" looking feature. It's slightly shiny, which might be why it wasn't sticking well. It didn't come with any instructions so maybe we were doing it wrong. I suspect the flat back might also be an issue...it seemed to loosen every time he leaned forward. He's had it for almost two months and has resorted to using a harness with it.
-Reelmagik: We got the xtra strength adhesive from reelmagik, and it works really well. I had it glued on for about an hour before I took it off. It stayed put, even after bouncing up and down and tugging on it...I can see one with the flex rod working well for sex. The back of the reelmagik is also very sculpted looking...it is slightly curved to conform to the body, and even has a small hollow area for anyone that has had meta surgery, which I thought was nice. It seems as though they took the time to make the back as nicely as the rest of it. Reelmagik's comes with an instruction pamphlet that explains how to adhere it and clean it as well.
Winner: Reelmagik (will revisit in the future after more testing is done)
Warranty/Guarantee:
-Emisil: No warranty or guarantee that we are aware of.
-Reelmagik: 90 day warranty that covers tears and flex rod issues. From what I understand they also offer low cost repair options for those who have gone past the 90 day period.
Winner: Reelmagik
Conclusion:
While both products are good, the obvious winner is Reelmagik. The reelmagik is by far a much higher quality prosthetic, and the higher cost is justified by the excellent craftsmanship. If you want a truly amazing product that emulates a real penis, go with the Reelmagik. Reelmagik also offers payment plans now, which makes it easier for those who don't want to throw down a large chunk of money all at once. Emisil may be an option for those that absolutely need a prosthetic quickly, and can't afford anything above the $400 range. The fact that it doesn't adhere well makes it unusable as a realistic option in my opinion.
I hope this review helps for those of you that are saving up, but aren't sure what to buy. You'll have to forgive me if I don't respond immediately to questions or comments, as my job keeps me on the road quite regularly.
