The No No product is a scam. Tria works well, just be careful on the settings, it will burn your upper lip area if  you use too high a setting. Like any laser it only works on dark hairs.

1st level on my cheek... Wow, now this thing hurts! I would not say it is unbearable, but I definitely felt it. I did two shots on my cleanly shaven cheek  - not overlapping... oh no, I could overlap it on my face now... it like taking it, then bracing Yourself for the next one... here we go... - and then pressed ice pack against it. It is still a bit sore and I want to see what will happen in the next hours. It deffinitely did not burn my skin, but its itchy... And I did not put Emla on it beforehands :P.

Please keep in mind that you should shave hairs completely before using Tria. In my case, I could bear it. The pain will decrease as you continue to use it.

Yes, I shaved it very carefully! Have You ever done higher settings on Your face or You stayed on the lowest setting for all time?

At first, I did at the lowest level, but within a few months I did at the highest (5) level. As the hairs became finer, the pain was gradually relieved. You may begin with just treating a few hairs per day.

LOL hmm power levels
For the big pro diode lasers I think I have the
Numbers at 30 gigajoules of powa. ..
And time...I think 100 ms

Don't try that at home...actualt haha
Even in the salon they offers me a leather strap
To bite on!!! Joking ....emla cold packs
Two balls to squeeze when the pain gets high

And you may have 400 folicles per inch...each will take
Maybe half a dozen. Times...and only maybe 1/3 of
Them are growing out....

In other words
Save a year do 4-5 big girl lasers  than tria

Oh, we do not have those "big girl" lasers here, so there are not many options for me :P.

I was brave enough to try other spots on my face yesterday - with EMLA and ice packs afterwards. I have to say, it gets better with each time - I think I should be able to use the next setting after a month. I cant see any visual burns - there are some small red marks here and there and skin is more sensitive like "deep inside" - I cant describe this but I am sure You know what I mean. My chest took 5th setting and I just barely winced couple of times - the hair is not so thick there anyway.

In my opinion, the reason why they say in the manual that it should not be used on a man's face is also, because guys would not shave their face properly, would not apply any numbing and such - and burning their actual hairs would cause the skin damage. Whereas, if You shave along the skin, maybe pluck out the density a bit at some spots - it can be done and it can be done safely!

I think it's because the hair is so coarse AND dense. You are heating up a huge amount of pigmentation per laser burst. More hair + thick hairs + 810nm wavelength energy = mass heat buildup + pain + possible scarring.

Please do be careful! It's good that you're going slow. I still wouldn't recommend Tria without pro laser first unless your beard was kind of sparse to begin with.

I was trying to do different parts of my face, but, of course, I do come over areas which I had already zapped previously - is this a bad practice?

I heard that it takes about one month for a new hair to grow again. You do not need to zap the already done hair follicle. If you see a hair growing, then shave it and zap it. Zapping the same follicle again next day can make a scar. Not desirable. I shaved a small area and zapped it, then move to the other area, shave and zap. I could not zap all of the hairs per session. The untreated hairs will grow faster. Wait until hairs grow again and repeat. Thus, ideally, you may zap the same hair follicle once per month.

Actually, the hair is not removed by Tria. Just its thickness becomes finer and finer with Tria treatment. Looking closely, I still can see a lot of fine hairs on my legs. But this is the same for most ordinary women here in my country. Some of women here have leg hairs thicker than mine (note that East Asian women generally have fewer leg or facial hairs than Caucasian women). A few of my friends touched my leg and arm skin and commented that my skin is more tender than most ordinary women.

For armpits, shaving and zapping once per month is enough.
